Robert Fulton's Steamboat North River aka Clermont 1:1

Descrizione
Robert Fulton’s Steamboat North River aka Clermont

The steamboat North River would be the first practical steamboat ever built, being constructed in a team effort between inventor Robert Fulton and founding father Robert Livingston in 1807. The North River would take her maiden voyage on August 17th, 1807, with passengers consisting mostly of Robert Livingston’s family and friends. The North River would disembark Greenwich village in Manhattan taking a two-day voyage to travel up the full extent of the Hudson River to Albany NY. The North River steamboat would prove the concept of steam navigation, starting a regularly scheduled service on September 4th, 1807. By the winter of 1807-1808, the North River steamboat would receive a refit, being widened by 6 feet and given enclosed engine and paddle spaces. By 1814 the North River, (now nicknamed Clermont by the general public), would be retired and most likely dismantled. For the most part, however, the vessel’s fate is unknown.

General Characteristics:
Length - 43.0 m
Width - 4.75 m
Height - 19.0 m

Open the boiler door and press the button titled “Light Boiler”
Throttle controls are located on the Boulton and Watt steam engine just forward of the boiler

Notes/Bugs/Clarifying:
Due to the vessel’s proportions, she will CAPSIZE EASILY in 100% waves, so beware of what weather you sail her in.

This vessel is one of my first to be completed on a 1:1 scale. However, I know that there’s bound to be a mix of opposition towards that statement. In response, I would like to say that the specifications of the North River are varied and unclear. Ultimately, I used the manageable specifications given in different sources to fit comfortably into stormworks, which I believe, in all humbleness, that I did a decent job in. Hopefully you fine folks will think the same. (:

Funnily enough, while I was finishing this vessel, a very well-made short documentary was produced by Tom Lynskey on his channel “Part-Time Explorer”. I’ve attached his video as a part of this creation to help provide more information about the North River, Robert Fulton, and the birth of the Steamboat Era. I recommend all who pass by to give this great video a watch in support of Mr. Lynskey’s work.

Many thanks to all who support my work. This build was easy, simple, and fun all wrapped up into a creation I hope you will like. It’s a creation I’ve thoroughly enjoyed, and a creation that’s one of my greatest builds yet. (:
