Load Order Mod Series

Updated For 1.4

The Load Order Mod Series is a bunch of mods I put together for my own personal use that I releasing so that, hopefully, they assist others as they have me.

The Concept is simple: Each Mod has no content, it simply acts as a placeholder and says "Put mods of this type below me", Additionally, each LOMS mod is set to request to be behind the previous two mods in the LOMS series, as well as a select few Mods that I personnally use.

FAQ:

Q: Just use RimPy!
A: You can certainly use RimPy, both without LOMS, or in conjunction: As LOMS uses the Vanilla XML commands for automatic ordering, LOMS is fully compatible with RimPy, and will act as an additional tool for RimPy Automatic Mod Ordering.

Q: Where did you get this load order? it is completely different from the one that I use, which is absolutely perfect!
A: If you have a better one, I am jealous. LOMS is based directly on Trisscar's Load Order Guide viewable HERE (https://rwom.fandom.com/wiki/Mod_Order_Guide).

Q: I am a Mod author, can you add my mod to be automatically sorted?
A: You can do so yourself quite simply. First, figure out what type of mod it is, and thus what group it should load in; then, in your mod's "about" file, add the line <loadAfter> followed by the identifier of the grouping mod surrounded by <li> tags (ex: <li>Medical.Mods.LOMS</li>), then close with </loadAfter>. Now anyone who uses your mod who also uses LOMS will get your mod automatically sorted.

Q: You screwed up the automatic sort!
A: Part of why I'm not adding to it, I probably did. But unless you are the mod author, I am not going to go by your say so and change it. Next release will probably have less Mods included in the automatic sort; these were the Mods I was using for my personal automatic sort. (And yes, they were only a portion of my mod list).

Q: The Race and Faction Pawns Section should be split; Faction Blender and other similar Mods should have their own section
A: Debating it, may occur in the next version of LOMS, depending on feedback.

I have personally been putting them under traits, and have had no issues.

Quick question, would things that add to xenotypes (say, [lts] xenotech) go under traits, or medical?

Any list what these mods know and support?

@AngleWyrm LOMS does not impose a hard-and-fast specific order.

Instead it uses the very functions of about.xml you discussed to place mods into groups by what part of rimworld they are modifying, which helps prevent overwriting.

Within each group, there is absolutely no control over order, and the number of mods automatically sorted by LOMS are actually quite small (though they are some of the more popular).

Not quite what I meant. You can present mods in a Steam collection in any order. But it isn't a good idea to try to impose a sequence on mod load order. Mods have specific mod load orders built into their about.xml and/or manifest.xml. Those built-in settings wire up the auto-sort button in Mod Manager. If you wish to make classifications, Mod Manager offers a way to color mod names.

@AnglyWyrm Already Done, surprised it isn't showing up for you: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2669353413

Have you tried making a Steam Collection? For example: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2688295123

@Hayashi
Yes, the LOMS series is designed to work as a set.
Due to the way that the vanilla <load after> tags work, the auto-sorting for every LOMS MOD is actually on the mod AFTER the mod named for any particular group.
Ideally, you should download them all, activate them and place them at the top of you mod order, do an Auto-Sort, (which will spread them out to the correct locations among your mods, and change your mods order to fit them), and then do manual sorting from there for the Mods that did not get auto-sorted.
