BASIC HOW TO PLAY
Setting Up and How to Play
Triple Triad is played on a three-by-three (3x3) square grid of blank spaces, where cards will be placed as the game progresses. The cards depict various characters, monsters, and bosses from the game. Each card has four numbers (known as Ranks) placed in top left corner; each number corresponds to one of the four sides of the card. These numbers range from one to nine, the letter A representing ten. On the top right of the card there is sometimes an elemental symbol representing the card's element. The elements are Earth, Fire, Water, Poison, Holy, Lightning, Wind, and Ice. There are two card colors, pink (the opponent's cards) and blue (the player's cards).

In a basic game of Triple Triad, each player has five cards. A coin-flip decision is made to decide which of the two players will begin. The player who wins the coin toss may then choose a card to play anywhere on the grid. After the first card is played, the opposing player may then play a card on any unoccupied space on the board. The game continues with players' turns alternating in this

Winning

5 rare cards are in play, including 2 player and 3 GF
To win, a majority of the total ten cards played (including the one card that is not placed on the board) must be of the player's card color. To do this, the player must capture cards. To capture a card, the player must place cards adjacent to an opponent's card, whereupon the 'ranks' of the sides where the two cards touch will be compared. If the rank of the opponent's card is higher than the player's card, the player's card will be captured and turned into the opponent's color. If, however, it is the player's rank that is higher, the opponent's card will be captured and changed into the player's color instead. Capturing can only occur during that player's turn, and no other opponent can capture a card during said turn.

A 'draw' will occur if the player and the opponent possess equal numbers of cards in their color on the board. Depending on alternate card rules, this can be defined by a 'sudden death' scenario where the first person to capture a card in a new game wins, or by playing until a winner is defined. The winner claims a prize of taking one or more of the loser's cards, depending upon the rules in effect.
Basic Game Rules
In every region on the game the people there have their own kind of region twist of the game, they have added a set of extra rules some for the better and some for the worse. The two most common game rules are Elemental and Sudden death.
On some cards like this Shiva card has a small image of some sort of element on its upper right corner, and it defines the cards elemental affinity, this affinity is of course the same as it has as a monster or GF in Final Fantasy 8. But in Triple Triad this has the power to change the game in some sense.

If you see a element on the playing board that means that your card with the corresponding affinity will receive an attack power boost of +1 in all directions.
If they don't have the same affinity as the spot the where placed on they will receive a -1 to attack power in all directions.
If you are wondering what will happen if I place a card with an affinity on a spot without an affinity? The answer is simply nothing neither +1 or -1.

Sudden Death:
This means that if the game ends in a draw a new game will start immediately until someone wins, the player plays with the cards they have won on the previous round.

There are three Trade Rules: All, Diff and Direct.

Trade Rules: All
This trade rule means that the winner takes it all. This means that the opponent wins all your 5 cards that match, but that also means you could win hes/hers 5 cards. So don't play too cocky.

Trade Rules: Diff
This trade rule means that the gets to choose an amount of cards based on the difference between points they won with, so if you won 6-4 the difference is 2 so you get to choose 2 cards, but if the score is 4-6 the opponent take 2 from you.

Trade Rules: Direct
This trade rule means that you get what you take, is you have taken 3 of the opponent's card but he has now taken your 1 best card, you get too keep the 3 from your opponent but he gets to keep your best card, and this sucks.
Advanced Rules
Now what we could call advanced rules are 5 rules that you don't want to spread around the world as they are hard to understand and take advantage of. and these are Random, Same, Plus and Same Wall.

Random
When a game starts with random that means you don't get to select your cards for the game, but rather its randomly picked.
Same
Same means that you can win a card by using the same attack power or higher, and not just higher like before, so A can take A, and 2 can take 2.
Plus
Plus means that if the sum of your attack power + opponent attack power in one direction is the same as your attack power + opponent attack power in another direction, then you will flip both cards to you if you don,t own them from before. Plus adds an extra rule to the game called Combo which can be really annoying. Now after a successful plus the cards you flipped comes in to play and flips all adjacent cards where your plus has a higher number, there only occurs 1 chain of this.
Same Wall
Same Wall acts just like the ordinary rule of Same, but the wall is also in play, now what does that mean? the wall has the power of A so if you match the walls power and an opponent's power the opponent is flipped.

Card Club Side Quest
The CC Quest is be initiated in the main lobby of Balamb Garden, but there is one prerequisite to the Quest, you have to win at

least 15+ games in Balamb garden if any site says anything bout you have to be on a late stage in the game then they have

generally bad information or execute poor testing of their information. But after you get the garden is recommended (Disc 2).

Once this is done you will have a random chance to meet the first of the Card Club Jack. so here is a list of the characters

and location, you might have to leave and enter the locations as some of the characters appear randomly.

#1 Jack: In the main lobby, he is standing on the right side of the directory(big computer in the center of the lobby).
#2 Knight Club: Club is found randomly along the circular path on the first floor, just talk to everyone he will tell you who

he is the fist time and every time after we will say nothing except when you challenge him, then he will say "Draw...".
#3 Princess Diamond(s): This is a pair of girls coming from the Balamb exit in the main lobby, they will walk towards and stop

at the directory.
#4 Prince Spade: Do you remember who gave you your first deck of card's? that guy is Spade, he resides on the same spot and

appears randomly, but be aware he holds several high level cards (boss type, Level 6/7).
#5 Queen Heart: Heart is Xu, she is outside the library entrance(before the garden starts to move), and in the cockpit

afterwards, she holds the Carbuncle card.
#6 Master King: The King is in fact Quistis to challenge her you have to rest in your room and she will appear in your room at

night. After you have beaten her you can challenge her at any time on the Balamb Garden cockpit. She holds the Gilgamesh card

which can be won from her.

#? Magician Joker: This player can be challenged at any time, and does not have any impact on the Quest, but its recommended to

play against him since he has the Leviathan card and he can update your battle meter to give GF information. He is located in

the Training Ground on the right side (at the entrance take the right door), he stands on the platform on the water, but he

appears randomly/not often.

DISK 4

On Disc 4 the Card Club can be encountered on board the Ragnarok where they hid on board during the Time Compression. Now they

will hold multiple card's but playing on different rule's.

Queen of Cards
This Quest is a tricky one, since you have to loose cards to her, it is recommended that you loose the card while playing with the trading rule one.

Once a rare (level 8+) card is lost to her she will leave for a new location. rare cards can be won back from her with the exception of the are cards she wants, to start the quest you must have her to move to Dollet, but any on of the cards lost to her that she requires before this will be activated once she reaches Dollet.

The Cards she demands can be won back from her son, her son is located in Dollet its the kid that paint a bone on the old artists paintings(find the dog side quest).

Lose= Get= Win From
Mini Mog =Kiros= Held by the man in black clothing in the shopping district at Deling City.
Sacred= Irvine= Flo in Fishermans Horizon, she is the Mayors wife in the center of the solar panels.
Chicobo= Chubby Chocobo= In Balamb Garden outside the library sitting on the bench, he appears randomly
Alexander= Doomtrain= Pub owner in Timber
Doomtrain =Phoenix= President's Aide in Estahar

Since the Queen of Cards move around a list is in order, together with the chance of movement, and remember a level 8+ card make her move.
You get one advantage, talk to her after you have lost the card she will not play you but she will tell you where you can go to play her.

The Queen of Cards can be found at the Estaharian continent, outside the southern border of the city barrier, she is a little bit hard to find since you cannot see her, and she is not on the map. but once you find the right place a message will appear, you can now play the Card Queen side Quest against her, she will not move and she will hold all the cards of the quest, meaning the ones you loose and the one you get for loosing the right cards.
