MAP MARKERS ENHANCED

REQUIREMENTS

SKYRIM WITH LATEST UPDATE, SKYUI AND SKSE. IF YOU DON'T HAVE SKYUI INSTALLED THERE'S NO NEED TO SUBSCRIBE TO THIS MOD, AS IT SIMPLY WILL NOT WORK!
SkyUI: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=8122
SKSE: http://www.silverlock.org (is required for SkyUI)

This plugin is a total remake of my earlier “Toggle Map Markers”, that uses the messaging/menu system in vanilla Skyrim. Once installed press ESC to enter the System Menu, choose Mod Configuration to enter the Mod Configuration Menu (MCM) and choose Map Markers Enhanced.

You will be presented 14 pages with one or more options to enable or disable map markers.

Marker Settings
Enable or disable fast travelling. You can switch fast travelling on and off to enable it for one category of map markers and disable it for another category.

Quest Markers
This page allows you to enable or disable map markers that are related to three specific quests:
- the Berenziah Crown Gems (Unusual Gems)
- the Crimson Nirnroots
- the Dragon Priest Masks
If you enable the Crimson Nirnroot map markers, you will see all location of those nirnroots all over half of Skyrim, while you will only find them in Blackreach. However, with fast travelling enabled, the marker will take you directly into Blackreach near the selected marker.

Settlements
This page allows you to enable or disable map markers for Castles and Longhouses, Cities, Towns and Villages, Guildhalls, Halls of the Dead and Player Houses.

Mining
This page allows you to enable map markers for Corundum, Ebony, Geode, Gold, Iron, Malachite, Moonstone, Orichalcum, Quicksilver and Silver mines and ore veins. Geode ore veins (soul gems) are only located in Blackreach.

Dragon Related
Enable or disable map markers for Dragon Lairs, Dragon Mounds and Word Walls.

Services
Enable or disable map markers for Apothecaries, Blacksmiths, Carriages, Farms, Fences, Fisheries and Warehouses, General Good Stores, Inns and Taverns, Markets, Meaderies, Stables, Wheat Mills and Wood Mills.

Hostile Hideouts
Enable or disable map markers for hostile camps, dungeons, ruins, etc.: Animals and Creatures, Bandits, Forsworn, Giants, Hags and Hagravens, Thalmor, Undead, Vampires and Warlocks (mages, conjurers and necromancers).

Magic And Religion
Enable or disable map markers for Daedric shrines, Doomstones (Standing Stones), Shrines to the Nine Divines and Temples of the Nine Divines.
Landmarks
Enable or disable map markers for General Landmarks, Clearings, Groves, Passes and Borders. If you want to cross borders and explore the area across the borders change your Skyrim.ini file in the My Documents/My Games/Skyrim folder as follows by adding or changing:
bBorderRegionsEnabled=0
under [General], although there's nothing to find there except additional landscape.

Military Camps
Enable or disable map markers for the Imperial and Stormcloak military camps.

Navigation
Enable or disable map markers for Docks, Lighthouses, Ships and Shipwrecks.

Ruins
Enable or disable map markers for Dwemer ruins, Imperial towers, Nordic ruins and Nordic towers.

Non-Hostile Hideouts
Enable or disable map markers for Fishermen and Hunter camps and other camps (abandoned camps, alchemist camps).

Other Points Of Interest
Enable or disable map markers for caravan remains, lost cities, monuments, ruined houses and treasure maps. Lost cities refers to my earlier plugin Arena Lore, but map markers are now situated in the center of the cell instead of near the ruins.

USING THIS PLUGIN

When using this plugin for the first time after subscribing, you will notice that all checkboxes on all pages are unchecked, but all markers that were enabled before subscribing are still on the map. You could use the console to disable all markers (tmm 0,0,0) but that disables ALL markers, including those from other plugins. To disable markers from this plugin just check and uncheck a category.

Enabling fast travelling for a map marker will enable you to fast travel to every location in the game, both interiors and worlds. Enabling Geode veins (in Blackreach) will allow you to travel to the clicked marker instantly even if your character is in Breezehome, on the Solitude market or in Sovngarde.

Fast travel can be enabled or disabled for each category seperately. The cover image shows map markers for the Berenziah Crown Gems with fast travelling enabled, and map markers for the Dragon Priest Masks with fast travelling disabled.

Not all cells in the game have been covered yet, as far as the ore veins are concerned. There are over 16,000 cells to check, some 5,000 in other gameworlds than the Tamriel world. About 40 to 50% of all ore veins have been marked with a map marker.

OMISSIONS AND FAILURES

Because of the large number of map markers, there could be omissions or failures. Please leave a comment if you find an omission or failure. Do not comment on omissions regarding ore veins, because ore veins have not fully been covered. Reported omissions and failures will be delt with in any following update. Please be as specific as possible when reporting as a report like “an ore vein north of Brittleshin Pass should be marked as a gold vein” will not help me find that mistaken vein very easily.

IF THIS PLUGIN IS A FAVORITE OF YOURS, PLEASE RATE IT!

Yes, there is! Look for my mod called "Convenient Rings". On equipping and unequipping one of the rings you will receive a notification in the top left corner of the screen. It's one of the most recent mods I've created.

Is there a way to bring up exact coordinates of where I am so that I can report an omitted vein more accurately? I really love this mod and would like to help out in any way I can. :lunar2019smilingpig:

It's my main target at the moment, but as I already wrote, it will take some time. I hope to have it finished within two weeks.

@Altbert:

Thanks! I will do that. This really is one of my favorite mods!

I am aware of this issue and it's brought to my attention a couple of times. I am working on a solution, but it will take some time, because I want to use a completely different approach, which depends on which worldspace (e.g. Blackreach) you are in. For the time being, open the console and type "tmm 0,0,0" (without the quotes). This will also remove the map markers for the cities, but you can easily restore that in the MCM.

I've been using this mod for quite a while now and I really like it, though there are couple of things I'd like to mention/ask:
Crimson nirnroots always show up on my map, even though I have them disabled from the very start of a game. I've even tried enabling then disabling them.
I can never enable the "Treasure Map" location option.

These things happen even when I have completely uninstalled/unsubscribed every mod and uninstalled/reinstalled Skyrim (which I had to do for reasons unrelated to this mod.) I don't have any other map marker mods installed, but I do have "A Quality World Map and Solsteim Map" (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/4929) .

I still love this mod and plan on continuing to use it since it's extremely helpful!

Have my Babies... :D
Those are some great news dear friend
Im looking forward to it! :)

It may even be sooner than I thought! I only had to change one line in the MCM script and only 9 map markers were configured incorrect. Just a little more testing and creating screenshots.

@KampfTomate007:

I've used a different approach in the new map marker mod. It will still take some time, as I want to test it thoroughly. It will use an MCM (SKSE and SkyUI are required) like this one, but not the FormLists which cause issues, by skipping forms in the list, so these markers keep being displayed. Other problems involve worldspaces such as Blackreach or Japhet's Folly. Map markers placed there will show up on the Skyrim map, which I want to prevent. All in all, it could still take some time.
