Beating Undertale Without Dodging: The Easy Way
By YourAverageFortniteHater
Have you ever thought to yourself: can you beat Undertale without dodging attacks? While it IS possible, some methods are easier than others. In this guide, I'll tell you how I completed this challenge and how you can complete this challenge as well without too much effort.

This challenge was inspired by Skip the Tutorial's video, although my own method was different. I will be referencing this video multiple times in this guide, and I do recommend checking it out to get an idea of how this challenge works.

Also, this guide will have spoilers, so if you somehow haven't played Undertale yet, I suggest you go do that first.
Introduction
One of the first questions that comes to mind when doing a No Dodging Challenge is "What route am I going to do for this challenge?" For this challenge, I went with the Neutral Route, as it is the easiest of the three main routes. (Both in this challenge, and in general.) Although the Pacifist Route IS possible to beat without dodging, it is still quite difficult, and the Genocide Route is impossible to beat without dodging no matter what strategy you use.

Another thing I will mention here, is that it is recommended to beat any Neutral Route before starting the run, then perform a regular Reset. This is because you won't have to fight Flowey at the end of this challenge, and why you don't want to DO that is because he is one of the few enemies that is impossible to defeat without dodging.

Another thing I will say over in this section is that I did NOT use the Temmie Armor. This run with this method was already easy enough for me, but getting the Temmie Armor would pretty much cheese every monster from the point you get it until the end. This is the easy way to beat a No Dodging Challenge, not the easiest.

Finally, certain notes will be italicized, while important actions, items, and things to know will be in bold.

Without further ado, let's get on with the REST of this guide!
Part I: Ruins
For this run, you would generally want to try and get as much LOVE as you can before the final boss, so that's what I did. I started a Genocide Route at first, but aborted it later in the challenge.

You have to kill a total of 20 monsters in the Ruins before activating the Genocide Route, although the first forced Froggit encounter doesn't count toward the kill count, so I would recommend killing him as he instantly gets you to LV 2. I'd also grab the Monster Candies, just for good measure.

I beat Napstablook the peaceful way since it was quicker, but either way works. (Note: Sparing Napstablook does NOT abort a Genocide Route, because he doesn't die anyway if you defeat him with violence.) Be sure to pick up an item from the spider bake sale, because if you eat one during the Muffet fight, it will immediately end the battle. Also pick up the Faded Ribbon and the Toy Knife, as they will help for the rest of the Ruins and for Snowdin. The knife is hard to miss, as you just head east in the room before Toriel's house. The ribbon is a little easier to miss, however. In the room with the six holes after Napstablook, the ribbon can be found in the bottom left hole.

I played through the Ruins as if I was doing a regular Genocide run, just without dodging. I mainly killed only Looxes, (idk the plural form lol) since they give a lot of EXP (22 per Loox) if you pick on them 3 times before you start to attack them.

Continue killing monsters (preferably Looxes) until "But Nobody Came" shows up, then proceed to fight Toriel. LOVE may vary, but I believe I was LV 6 or 7 before Toriel. She dies in one hit in Genocide, so she won't be any problem. Don't forget to pick up the Butterscotch Pie before leaving the Ruins.
Part II: Snowdin
Snowdin is pretty straightforward in this run. Once you reach the storage box, equip the Tough Glove and save the Pie for later. Stop by the Snowman and obtain the 3 Snowman Pieces, as these will likely help you later in the run. It's kinda hard to miss: you have to head north in the room after the second Papyrus encounter.

Continue killing monsters until you exhaust the kill count of 16, then continue to Snowdin town. (Note: try not to kill Jerry, as he only gives 1 EXP. What a scumbag. Not even worth killing. I'd also recommend trying to kill the members of the Royal Guard, as the doggos give a healthy amount of EXP.) Once in the town, steal the gold from behind the counter and take what you need. I recommend taking a few Cinnamon Buns. LOVE may vary, but I was LV 9 before Papyrus.

Since Skip the Tutorial did it, I spared Papyrus, (I'm not THAT heartless) although killing him would also work fine.
Part III: Waterfall
(Note: There's quite a bit of hidden stuff in Waterfall, so the screenshots may help to find them.)
Waterfall is where you encounter your first hard enemies: Mad Dummy (If Papyrus is alive) and Undyne, so you should be prepared for those fights. Upon first entering Waterfall, you'll want to take the Old Tutu, as it is the best piece of armor for this run until defeating Mad/Glad Dummy. It's found behind the waterfall in the room after Sans' Waterfall station.

In the second bridge seed room, there's a hidden healing item called the Abandoned Quiche, which heals 35 HP. The Quiche will help during the Mad Dummy/Undyne fight. To get it, you have to face the bottom pool of water like in the screenshot, then put the bridge seeds all in the direction I was facing here.

Once you are able to cross the bridge, you'll find a lone bench and an Echo Flower. Inspect the bench and you'll get the quiche.

During all the Undyne chase sequences, don't move if you get hit by her spears in the overworld, as avoiding the spear rain counts as "dodging." After Sans' telescope room, you can find the Ballet Shoes, but it's hidden in the grass.

Although you could still use the Tough Glove for killing monsters, the Shoes are still nice to have.
In the room where you fight Shyren, take a trip to the room above before proceeding. Here you'll gain an item that's very important to the run: Dog Residue. Skip the Tutorial also used this item to find victory in his run, and it's not hard to see why. If you use Dog Residue, all empty spaces fill up with more of it, but there's a chance that you'll get a Dog Salad instead of an extra Dog Residue when you use it. The HP it heals varies: Dog Salad could either heal 2 HP, 10 HP, 30 HP, or ALL HP. The chance of Dog Salad being able to heal all health makes it critical to the run, as all other healing items that heal 60 HP or more are limited in supply, while Dog Salads can be infinitely farmed as long as you keep at least one piece of dog residue. Keep in mind farming for Dog Salads can be lengthy, as it is RNG based whether you get a Dog Salad or not, and you have to throw away all the unwanted dog residue before using the one wanted piece again. In the room I mentioned before, there is a piano, where you have to play a special code in order to unlock the secret door. The required code is: Z, up, right, Z, down, down, right. (For PC controls.) If performed correctly, a door should appear. (Note: make sure you have space in your inventory for the Dog Residue.)

Continue through the game as normal until you reach the Garbage Dump, which is where Mad Dummy is fought. (Note: you can't backtrack to buy items or access the storage box while in the dump until you defeat Mad Dummy, so make sure you have the right healing items.) LOVE may vary, but I believe I was LV 10 before Mad Dummy.

Mad Dummy. Hoo boy. If you're not prepared, this might be the part where you have to restart the run, so I'd recommend having these on hand before the fight:
*The two Astronaut Food Bars found in the cooler in the dump
*Maybe a couple of Cinnamon Buns
*A Snowman piece or two would help, but I would have at least one for Undyne
*The rest of your space should be filled with the one piece of Dog Residue and Dog Salads

This fight heavily relies on RNG, both during his first phase and when using Dog Salads, so all you can really do is stand still, heal when necessary, and hope RNG is on your side for this fight.

In the room after the Quiet Area, be sure to head on up to Gerson's shop to buy the Cloudy Glasses, which is the armor I used for the rest of the run. Although lacking in defense, the Glasses are also critical to the run, as they increase invincibility frames after you get hit, allowing attacks to deal no damage to you during said frames. I'd also get the Torn Notebook for extra invincibility frames, but it's really up to you if you want to get that. Gerson's shop is pretty much impossible to miss, so there's almost no excuse not to buy at least the Glasses. After that, continue through Waterfall as normal. If you've decided to keep any of your old, unwanted equipment, I would sell them at Temmie Village, located in the bottom right corner in the room before the darkening lantern room.

Continue killing monsters until you exhaust the kill count of 18, then continue to where you meet Monster Kid on the bridge. (Note: I exhausted the kill count for each location, yet I still got a Neutral Ending since I kept Papyrus, Undyne, and Mettaton alive.) I will say this right now: there are two factors on why this is not the easiest possible method for this challenge:
1. I did not get the Temmie Armor.
2. I aborted the Genocide Route in Snowdin by sparing Papyrus.
If you did not follow my method exactly and continued the Genocide Route up until this point, it's actually a little easier than my exact method since you gain a little more EXP and the Mad Dummy fight is skipped. If you killed Papyrus, spare Monster Kid when you engage combat with him, as Undyne the Undying is impossible to beat with dodging. Proceed to the next area to fight regular Undyne. LOVE may vary, but I was level LV 11 before Undyne despite sparing Papyrus.

I decided to spare Undyne because Skip the Tutorial also did so, and she takes a while to kill anyway, so you might die before she does. For the fight, equip the Glasses and have these items beforehand:
*The Snowman Pieces you saved
*The Quiche if you didn't use it yet
*Astronaut food if you didn't use them yet
*A couple of Crab Apples or Cinnamon Buns
*The rest Dog Salads
(Note: there's a storage box outside Gerson's shop, so you can grind for salads and store your one dog residue afterward.) I also used the Torn Notebook, since the extra INV frames helped a lot, and I wasn't going to attack her anyway. Although Skip the Tutorial (From now on I will mention him as Skip) moved the shield while we was green, I decided to make it harder on myself my counting moving the shield as "dodging." Although it's harder to fight her without moving the shield, the fight is still pretty similar to the other fights in this run: stand still when Undyne attacks, heal when you get to low HP, and run away the moment you turn red. She does a lot of damage, so you may need to heal sooner than you think. The INV frames help a TON, as most of her attacks will just disappear upon touching you.

After that, make it to Hotland, give Undyne the water, (or not) and continue through your next location.
Part IV: Hotland/CORE
(Note: since CORE is technically a subarea of Hotland, I decided to mash them both into one part.) After beating Undyne, head into the Lab and start Mettaton's quiz show. You have to move during certain sections of the battle, but it doesn't really count as "dodging" since nothing will happen until you answer. If you REALLY want to, just don't move at all until the time comes when it's necessary to move. After that, keep progressing, killing as you go until you reach the first vent room. (AKA the Magma Chamber)In the bottom right corner of this room, and can obtain the Burnt Pan, the weapon I used for the rest of the run. Not only does the pan deal a LOT of damage with critical (golden) hits, it also makes healing items heal 4 more HP. This will be quite useful for the remaining sections of the run, especially when using Dog Salads even if RNG isn't feeling too nice.

After that, keep progressing as normal through Hotland. If Papyrus is alive, stop and buy a hot dog from Sans, as the hot dog will allow you to get a good item later in the run. In the room after, you can find the Stained Apron, which has double the health of the glasses and it heals 1 HP every other turn.Though I wouldn't recommend getting it, as it lacks the necessary INV frames the glasses have. Be sure to kill the Royal Guards, as they give good EXP.

(Note: take out the Spider Donut/Cider from the box using your phone, since this is the part where you have to use it.) When you finally reach Muffet, use the Spider bake sale item on the first turn. This will make Muffet spare you, instantly ending the fight. I would recommend killing her as well.

When you reach Mettaton Resort, be sure to stop by Burgerpants' shop to buy some items. Buy the Face Steak, which heals for 60 HP, to save for later. Try to buy some Legendary Heroes and Glamburgers as well. If you have the hot dog from earlier, head over to the hotel rooms and interact with the rightmost door. If you put the hot dog under it, you'll get a Hush Puppy in return, which heals for 65 HP. (Note: Since you can only but hot dogs from Sans, you can only get the Hush Puppy if Papyrus is alive.) After getting prepared, head into the CORE.

In the CORE, there's not much to see and do. To open the gateway to the CORE's end, you either have to go through the Warrior's path, (defeat a gauntlet of enemies) or the Sage's path. (complete a puzzle) I went with the Warrior's path to gain more EXP, but the Sage's path or even both paths work just as well. Kill monsters until you exhaust the tedious kill count of 40, then proceed to fight Mettaton EX. LOVE may vary, but I was LV 14 before fighting him.

For this fight, the items you should have are:
*Mainly Legendary Heroes
*A couple of Glamburgers
*The rest of your inventory should be Dog Salads (again)
Skip also spared Mettaton EX, so I did also.
For this fight, you'll want to select "Heel Turn" from the ACT menu, as you gain more ratings whenever you get hit if you do this. You might want to use "Boast" a few times on attacks that you know standing still won't hurt you, (i.e. break time) but other than that, you should mostly Heel Turn and heal. Try to shoot Mettaton's SOUL when it's exposed, as you'll need fewer ratings to end the fight if his limbs have been destroyed. (Which only happens if you attack his SOUL.)

When you gain 10,000 ratings, the fight will end. After that, head over to the Long Elevator and ride it to New Home.
Part V: New Home/The End
This is the most linear location of the run, as there is no items or anything to stop for. Don't stop to get the Heart Locket or the Worn Dagger. The pan does more damage than the dagger if you get critical hits, and the dagger lacks the extra healing. Although the locket has triple the defense of the glasses, it still lacks the extra INV frames, and by this point, you should have enough HP to withstand Asgore's attacks anyway.

Proceed through the whole location as normal, until you reach the save point at The End. Here, you'll want to make one final item check before entering the door, just to make sure you have everything you need. Use my screenshots as reference for what you should look like before the final battle. Your stats and items don't have to be EXACTLY like mine, but I would make them as similar as possible to the ones I have for this run.

Once you're all set, enter the door and engage combat with the king himself, Asgore. Despite being the final foe of this challenge, the strategy for the Monster King isn't much different at all compared to every other fight in the run. Just attack him when healthy, don't move when HE attacks, and heal whenever you have low HP. Be wary that Asgore also does a lot of damage, so you might need to heal more than you might think. (Note: be sure to use the Butterscotch Pie as your first healing item, as eating it in front of Asgore will decrease his defense and attack.)

After you've dealt enough damage to him, you'll be given a choice to spare or kill Asgore. You HAVE to make a choice, but the run will still be valid since this is required. (And you technically don't dodge any attacks.) After your choice, Flowey will show up, but decide not to fight you if you've already beaten him in a previous save file. After all that, walk into the final door, and watch the credits roll. Congrats! You've completed the challenge!
Conclusion
And there you have it! How to easily beat Undertale without dodging! There are definitely other, harder (and easier) methods to complete this challenge, but I just wanted to share my experience with this challenge, how to overcome it, and how you can beat it, too.

Thanks for taking the time to read my guide! Making this took a while, but I hope you enjoy it. If there's anything I should add, remove, or fix, just let me know in the comments.

Have a good one, and I hope you try out this cool little challenge for yourself!
