SOFs like the 'SEALs' are highly specialized and adaptable to new mission sets. This means that their training, structure, employment, gear/equipment etc. change at a faster pace than conventional units. A guide like this is meant to explain their current force structure/gear/equipment etc. and will certainly change sooner rather than later...

Intro
Per official Navy statement:

"Your duties as a SEAL may include, but are not limited to:
  • Conducting insertions and extractions by sea/air/land to accomplish covert,
    Special Warfare/Special Operations missions
  • Capturing high-value enemy personnel and terrorists around the world
  • Collecting information and intelligence through special reconnaissance missions
  • Carrying out small-unit, direct-action missions against military targets
  • Performing underwater reconnaissance and the demolition of natural
or man-made obstacles prior to amphibious landings"

Typical SEAL employment:
  • Counterterrorism
  • Unconventional Warfare
  • Foreign Internal Defense
  • ***Direct Action***
  • Special Reconnaissance
U.S. Military Structure

President of the U.S.A - Civilian; elected to office

Secretary of the Defense - Civilian; appointed by the President

Secretary of each military branch - Civilian; appointed by the President
Army; Air Force; Navy

***Joint Chiefs of Staff - Military; appointed by the President***
The military head of each service

Chief of Staff for each service (highest military rank) - Military; appointed by the President

The Marine Corp, although part of the Navy, has its own Commandant

The U.S. military also has 7 'Unified Combatant Commands'
(Unified Combatant Command are 2 or more service branches )
6 are land based and the last one is 'Space Force'

There are also 4 'Functional Combatant Commands', that are not based on a geographical area

It is in this framework that the Navy SEALs exist...
United States Special Operations Command - SOCOM
United States Special Operations Command - SOCOM

SOCOM is the unified SPEC OPS command for all Special Forces/Operation personnel
Navy Special Warfare Command - NAVSPECWARCOM
Navy Special Warfare Command - NAVSPECWARCOM

]Not current

Not current

NAVSPECWARCOM is the Navy's Special Operations component to SOCOM

***NOTE: SEAL TM 6 no longer exists and SEAL TM 9 never existed***
***SMU***
SMU - Special Mission Unit

SEAL TM 6 is under tactical control of JSOC

Other SMU units include:
- 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (SFOD-D)
- Regimental Reconnaissance Company (75th Ranger Regiment)
- Intelligence Support Activity (ISA)
- 24th Special Tactics Squadron (USAF Special Ops)
Naval Special Warfare Groups
Naval Special Warfare Groups

NSWG 1, 2, 4, 8 and 11
NSWG 1 & 2 - S.E.A.L Teams
NSWG 4 - Surface water craft
NSWG 8 - SDV and ISR
NSWG 11 - Reserve

***NSW Training Center, DEVGROUP and Career Development act like NSWGs***
S.E.A.L 'Team'
S.E.A.L 'Team'
  • 8 (1,2,3,4,5,7,8,10)

***SEAL TMs have a unique structure that utilizes both company/battalion structures***

SEAL TMs are sized to be company(+)/battalion(-)

Size:
A traditional PLT has about 40 Soldiers. A SEAL PLT has at 16-21 Sailors.
A traditional company has 3/4 PLTs. A SEAL TM has 7 PLTs.
A traditional battalion has 3/4 companies. A SEAL TM has 3 TUs which = about 2 companies.
And like a battalion sized elements, the SEAL TM is staffed with typical battalion staff functions.

SEAL TMs are organized like a company, in that they posses:
  • CO (Commanding Officer)
  • XO (Executive Officer)
  • 'Chief' NCO
  • Medical

SEAL TMs also have 'shops' similar to a battalion, such as:
  • Admin (N-1)
  • Intel (N-2)
  • Operations (N-3)
  • Supply (N-4)
  • Communication (N-6)
S.E.A.L TU (Task Unit)
Each Team has 3 S.E.A.L TU (Task Unit) with a small C2 section
  • S.E.A.L TU-1 (Alpha/Bravo PLT)
  • S.E.A.L TU-2 (Charlie/Delta PLT)
  • S.E.A.L TU-3 (Echo/Foxtrot/Golf PLT)

These TUs are 2 platoons (3 PLTs for TU3) grouped together

Each TU acts like a company(-) of a traditional unit
S.E.A.L Platoon
***SEAL platoon sizes have varied overtime***

Each Team has 7 platoons with 16 to 21 Sailors (3 officers and 18 enlisted)

SEAL PLTs are very flexible, more than other SOF teams

They can best be divided into:
  • Two, 8-man SQDs
This number allows them to fit into 2 NSW RHIB (Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat)

Unlike other SOFs, SEALs can operate down to 'buddy pairs'

The lowest acceptable number of operating Soldiers is always 2

Platoon Structure:
Navy SEAL PLTs are structured more like a traditional infantry PLT:
  • they have much of the same training
  • less specialized training

SEALs are more like infantry rifleman with common specialized training (dive/MFF etc.)

Among the PLT, individual SEALs focus extra training on:
  • medical
  • demolitions
  • communications
  • JTAC/CAS
  • sniper
BUDs

BUDs is the first of 2 major training pipeline for aspiring SEALs

Basic Underwater Demolition (6 months)

PART I

1st Phase: Basic Conditioning
  • 7 weeks long
  • physical training
  • water training
  • mental toughness

Benchmarks to be met:
  • four-mile timed run
  • timed obstacle course
  • two-mile timed swim

***The 4th week is known as 'Hell Week'***

2nd Phase: Combat Diving
  • 7 weeks
  • 'basic' combat swimming
  • open/closed circuit breathing

3rd Phase:: Land Warfare
  • 7 weeks
  • land nav; weapons qual; demo, rappeling/fast rope
  • Small Unit Tactics (SMT)

Sailors who finish the 3rd phase are now BUD graduates and are Special Warfare Operators

At this point, they are NOT SEAL (Trident) qualified
Seal Qualification Training (SQT)
PART II
SEAL Qualification Training: 26 weeks

Additional training is given in:
  • mission planning/operations/TTPs
  • CQB/hand-to-hand combat/medical/cold weather training
  • SUTs and SERE school

Upon SQT, Sailors ARE authorized to wear the Navy SEAL Trident

'Ship-Out'
Once BUDs/SQT is cmplete, SEALs are sent to a NSWG to partake in the unit's training cycle

Once on a SEAL Team, the Sailor will be in one of 3 pre-deployment training cycles
(total of 12-18 months)

A typical complete cycle is:
  • Individual Specialty Training (6 months)
  • Unit Level Training (6 months)
  • Task Group Level Training (6 months)

At the end of the 3rd phase, if successful, a SEAL TM is certified for operations

A typical operation lasts 6 months

Total pre-deployment/deployment can last up to 24 months total
SWCC

Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC) are assigned to NSWG-4

SWCC personnel are the 'pilots' who transport Navy SEALs via surface maritime infiltration

SWCC personnel are not SEAL qualified but go through extensive and exhaustive training

SWCC operate in the 3 main types of water classes:
  • ocean
  • coastal areas
  • river/riverine networks

SWCC have their own training course and supporting staff

SQCC personnel is also trained in other specialties such as:
  • JTAC
  • MFF
  • Sniper
Aerial Transportation
Typically for aerial transport, Navy SEALs utilize:
  • the Army's 160th SOAR
  • US Air Force Special Ops aircraft
  • USN (HSC-85 & HSC-84 etc.)

160th S.O.A.R

USAF Special Operations Command
SDV
SDVs are part of the sub-surface watercraft

Another important ability is the DDS (Dry Dock Shelter). The DDS is mounted to a submarine to allow for quick water egress/ingress.

DDS can be utilized by:
  • SEALs (X6) in one SDV
  • SEALs (X20) in SCUBA gear and a Combat Rubber Raiding Craft (X4) (CRRC)

***The US Navy has the stated goal to maintain a constant SEAL PLT presence on a DDS-rated submarine in each geographical combatant area. This allows for the immediate employment of a SEAL PLT if the need arises.***

Moved from NSWG-3 to NSWG-8, SDV has 2 TMs (SDV-1 & 2)

Navy SEALs utilize the SEAL Delivery Vehicle (SDV) for subsurface infiltration

SEAL SDVs used to belong to NSWG 3 but now are grouped with NSWG 8 (with Intel from former NSWG 10)

Regardless, the SDVs are piloted by BUDs qualified Sailors that are specially trained for SDV use

SDVs are:
  • like mini submarines
  • electrically powered
  • hold 6 SEALs

Each SDV TM is comprised of 16 Sailors:
  • 11 SEALs with SDV piloting ratings
  • 1 dive medical tech
  • 4 support personnel

Surface Infiltration Craft

Special Boat Teams 12, 20, and 22 are part of NSWG-4 and operated by SWCC personnel

SBT 12 & 20 are for: open ocean coastal use (litoral)

SBT 12 is for: river/riverine use

Common surface craft used:
  • Combat Rubber Raiding Craft (CRRC)

  • NSW Rigid Inflatable Boat (RHIB)

  • Special Operations Craft-Riverine (SOC-R)

  • Combatant Craft Assault (CCA)

  • Combatant Craft Medium (CCM) Mk1

  • CCH SEALION

  • MK V Special Operations Craft (MK V SOC)
GMVs
GMVs - Ground Mobility Vehicles

The SEALs utilize several types of GMVs

Desert Patrol Vehicle (old version)

Gear
^
Specific gear 'comes & goes' and although the specific model may change, the function they serve remains the same

Common 1st line gear
  • BDUs (Battle Dress Uniform) of various color schemes
  • Hats/boots/eye & ear protection etc.

Common 2nd line gear
  • Webbing of various configurations (GRN/AR/Medic etc.)
  • 'Battle Belt'
  • Pistol
  • Climbing harness
  • Personal Retention Lanyard (PRL) w/Carabiner

Common 3rd line gear
  • Ruck-sacks of various makes and models
  • Mortars of various types (60mm/81mm)
  • Mission related gear

Conclusion
Navy SEALs are a maritime focused SF unit

They maintain 1 of 2 SMUs for SOCOM

They are able to infiltrate via:
  • SEAL - SEa (surface/sub-surface)
  • SEAL - Air (rotary/fixed winged; MFF)
  • SEAL - Land (GMVs; dismounted etc.)

Much of the information here is old, outdated, or just flat wrong. You should go enlist in the military you clearly have a passion for the romance behind special operations. The military (every branch) is in need of people right now.

Stfu with your larping bullshit. This is a game and as good as every "guide" you have made has no appliance here. Spamming your dumb "guides" on a game forum wont make you any less of a loser than you already are lmao. Go enlist or stay in your basement I dont care but these guides are just straight cringe.
