Tbh, for Dark Souls 2, the bosses are so freaking slow that you can just run a Dexterity build and actually follow this guide word for word and that's it, every boss beaten first try (in my own ongoing playthrough I beat Last Giant, Pursuer (without using the crossbow), Dragonrider (No Cheese) and Flexile Sentry without any trouble at all, all first try just by strafing around them)

To beat The Pursuer less than 10 seconds, try rolling near a catapult on the left when he try to attack you. then, use the catapult to shoot him. he will die on the second shot.
