Cold Case [Port]

Description
A campaign made by mrfranswa aka RyoK for the first Left 4 Dead in 2009.
With permission from Trunten who was actually involved in the project in 2009.
Trunten was first given the files after project completion in 2009 and in the official steam group.

ALL PARTS ARE REQUIRED!

Original L4D1 version:

TIP: You can use things with small white glow.
My L4D2 port of Cold Case. This isn't exactly 1:1 port, but I tried my best to replicate it.
There are issues like text being too large, I might've missed stuff since there was so much to do.
Campaign is long and can be confusing.
Trying to make it 2 parts only once workshop works properly...

- Maps were not recompiled.
- Improved NAV.
- L4D1 infected.
- Contains Forsaken maps.

Optional add-on that brings back the intended game-play the original version had:

An absolutely fantastic campaign.

Really unimpressed with the presentation of this campaign from the get-go.

Although the intro is *technically* able to be skipped i.e. depending on who you're playing with, it's really tedious to sit through several sequences, each lasting 20+ seconds, of a camera slowing passing along a sign that contains a few words' worth of credits. And just prior to that, it looks as though photographs of rather graphic, real world atrocities/hardships have been used to illustrate the in-game pandemic. I get that this is a horror game, but it's nonetheless still a form of escapism from the real world, and I really could do without looking at actual human suffering, certainly without any prior warning (from what I can tell, there's no apparent warning that precedes this content).

Maybe I'll return to this campaign and actually play it at some point, but I'm already disinterested for the time being. Maybe put some due warnings in place, at least?

however, that being said...
our version is still a true direct port.
we might not have everything fixed (and neither does the other version).
but you can rest assured our version remains as true to the original as possible.
and is also in the hands of fully capable people who have knowledge of the tools.
while that might sound harsh and offensive to some, it's still the truth in the end.
you will notice the other version has a description rambling on about 3rd party tools.
these not official Steam/Valve programs, and they also aren't actual mapping tools.
these are tools literally anybody can use and only allow you to randomly replace items.
virtually anybody can "port" a map, but truth be told, not everyone can "fix" a map.
no disrespect was intended, however, sometimes truth is brutally honest...
as well as a "relative term", as the slogan of this campaign is.
I suppose it makes it fitting this is the perfect campaign to have such a crazy history.

by the way,
we're aware of another version of this having been uploaded.
all we'll confirm is it's indeed true the original author shared files with multiple users.
this was simply forgotten knowledge due to the passage of time.
remember, this campaign is 13 years old and originated in the first Left 4 Dead.
therefore, indeed, this campaign is technically open source and in the free public domain.

I feel like i was tricked in playing this campaign. Its very much one fixed route and never encountered the lab or underground lair areas seen in the screenshots for the file while running the map. Even tested all the dead ends in hope of finding such a places. Feels like a bit of a bait and switch to me.

Also, you should make this a "collection' for easier linking and sharing.
After all, I considered using a new download link for "Game Maps".
And I can't do that with it separated like this, but a collection would be fine.

I went ahead and updated "Game Maps".
I almost forgot there was a version uploaded there.
It should now match yours.
I'd like to make sure you're properly credited so let me know if you have an account there.
