Configuring DosBox to use OpenGL instead of DirectDraw
In order to take screenshots via Steam (default key is F12), you have to enable the Steam overlay for DosBox. This is done by changing the output from DirectDraw to OpenGL. In order to do this follow these steps:

1. Navigate to your Wolfenstein 3D folder. the default path is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Wolfenstein 3D".
2. Open the "base" suibfolder.
3. Edit "wolf3d.conf" with a text editor.
4. Search for the line: output=ddraw
and change it to: output=opengl
5. Save the changes.

Make sure that in the properties of Woflenstein 3D in Steam the option "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game" is enabled.

Now you can take screenshots via the Steam interface and upload them after you stopped playing.

Extra note: If the display after the change doesn't fill the whole screen anymore (huge black border), please adjust the following lines to these values:

[sdl]
fullresolution=640x480

[render]
scaler=normal2x

Pro tip: If the sound in the game stutters also change the following line:

fulldouble=false

Worked for me except the file was in the DosBOX subfolder, not the base one

Vilo you'll need to replace the DOSBox it comes with to something like DOSBox-X where you can change it to a mode like OpenGLpp (pixel-perfect) or OpenGLnb (no bilinear)

It works, but the game is super blury when I use "opengl". Do you know a fix for it!?

Okay, I tried to get Doom 2 to work after testing Ultimate Doom yesterday and something is really odd about it. I simply can't get it to work while Ultimate Doom works fine. I will check Final Doom and Quake tomorrow and then start to write the guides for the games that I can get to work.
very cool Jan 25, 2017 @ 4:14am
You might want to try Quake as well, and you're very welcome.

They will, but you need to find the right .conf file. For example Ultimate Doom uses ultimatem.conf if you select the standard launch option. I will write guides for those games as well during the next games. Thanks for the heads up :)
