Introduction
MORDHAU

Welcome to Mordhau! A medieval slasher with the roots of chivalry 1 & 2 and the graphics of Fallout 4 & 76. No matter which game you came from, this game has something for you-- even if it's something downright stupid.

Basic Movement
CONTROLS

Stand up and walk! You ain't no cripple! (You will be in real life when you get obsessed, though.) The world of the Iron age is out there! Even if it's full of pointless wars and the plague! WASD (no sh*t) moves your character, space jumps, yaddah, yaddah, yaddah. You know how to play a PC game-- but Mordhau does have unique keybound actions, as every game does. The Q key does a feint, which I discuss about in the Combat section. To preform a stabbing motion, roll your mouse wheel forwards. Kick is F, drop is G and use is E. To change your weapon mode, press R, to battle cry, V is your answer, to commit Sudoku, press the "end" key if you have it, if not, then rebind it to something else. Finally, to switch weapons/equips, just press on the number keys-- 0 holsters anything you have in hand.

Weapons
Many weapons were present in Medieval times. British, German, French, Danish, Spanish, Arab, Indian and more created weapons to guarantee a red paint spill from the courtesy of your enemy's flesh and veins!! Too bad there's so many to chose from! Fortunately, I've listed them in categories and given you my personal desription! (Peasant Perk Weapons are in PERKS section)

Combat
The Genre for this game is "Slasher", meaning it's a 1st person melee. The skill ceiling for this game is one of the highest and keeps growing.

Parry System

Part of Mordhau's difficult skill cap is parry timing. Since the Game Tester, Crush, keeps f*cking with the Parry window, this might be false info in the future. Anyways, before reading this guide, you might have blocked a bit too early and got killed. Now, before you rage quit like a little ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥ and refund the game, remember that when the enemy grunts or shouts whilst swinging, that signals a full swing. This is also helpful to counter feints. If you block too early or fall for a feint, Follow this abbreviation :

P.D/J/R.S

PANIC
DUCK / JUMP / RUN
SWING

With ranged, much like a sport with a ball, you must keep your eye on the projectile.
Some weapons have longer parry windows than others, preferably heavier weapons of a longer duration of the parry.

Feints

If the fight is going no where but low energy, then it may be time to add chemical X to the the sugar and spice. Feinting will catch your enemy off guard to block, giving you a free hit. Remember, you're not the only one with this super power, every player does. Hopefully, what I just forced into your brain a few lines above should help with that.

Armor

Armor (no duh) reduces the amount of damage inflicted upon you and others. Certain mesures must be taken for different types of armor. If it's a 3/3/3 (full heavy) then aim for the head. 2/2/2 (medium) aim for the chest. 1/1/1 (light) Then aim for anywhere. If you have 3/3/3 yourself, then you can let yourself get hit a few times-- just don't let high damage ones tickle ya. 2/2/2 and 1/1/1 will need more of your undivided attention. Taking a hit is a crucial mistake with Heavy and lower.

Reposts

Reposting is simple, parry and immediately swing again-- preforming a repost, but you already KNEW that. Yet you still live a life you drea- *cough* I mean, yes, uh, REPOSTS!~ It can be extra useful when facing more than one person, especially if you have a high drag weapon.
Energy Management
Energy is Everything in Mordhau, when you run out, you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥-- especially if they have stun. I have made a list of energy using abilities so you can learn to manage it:

Swing ~ Approx 10
Parry ~ Approx 5-10
Jump ~ 10
Feint (no swing) ~ Approx 10
Kick ~ 10
Morph ~ Approx 20
Jump Kick ~ Approx 20
Feint Spam ~ Approx 20~90

Combos (Elaborated on in Combat+) use whom ever many things are in said combo.
Armor
So now that you've chosen a weapon with what little coins you've earned from that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tutorial, it's time to go shopping at the local Louis Vuitton for metal-plated armor from the 2nd century!

Light
Light armor is plain and simple. You want speed? Light armor is perfect for you and not tight around the nutsack-- since this will come out specifically for the female update I guess also Vagina... ANYWAYS! Light Armor is stylish and you can embrace getting killed and blame it on your armor when trash talked!

Medium
Medium, personally, works best when used with Light and/or Heavy armor. If you want to focus on skills and a good weapon, medium armor is like the Walmart version of Heavy, making that possible!

Heavy
Wanna look like a walking tank? Ever wander what T-45 power armor would look like in the Iron and steel age? It provides health insurance when worn (sorry American residents, gonna hafta pay up.) Yeah, you are considerably slower, but less prone to damage.
Perks
Perks may seem pointless to some, but are sometimes the thing that gets your team the winning hand. (The list of perks and what they do):

Cost Name Effects
4 Brawler Increases the damage and attack speed of your bare fists
3 Acrobat Halves the stamina cost of jumping
4 Fury Fully restores your stamina on kill
24 Peasant Restricts your equipment to that of what a peasant would use. Further described below.
3 Fireproof Reduces incoming fire damage by 80%
3 Huntsman Bows, Crossbows, and Throwables do additional damage if you hit the torso or head of an enemy who is also wielding a Bow or Crossbow
1 Friendly Halves the amount of damage you deal and receive from teammates (Removed and made default as of Update #21)
6 Rat 10% faster movement speed while crouched, and 75% quieter footsteps
3 Cat Reduces damage taken from falling by 90%
2 Wrecker Increases melee damage dealt to structures by 50%
3 Smith Increases repair effectiveness to structures by 33%
1 Tenacious Passive health regeneration is 66% faster (Removed and made default as of Update #21)
6 Second Wind Each successful melee attack you land restores 3 stamina
15 Bloodlust Fully restores your health upon getting a killing blow with a melee attack
9 Rush Instantly begin sprinting upon killing an enemy
9 Flesh Wound If you die to something other than a headshot or environmental damage, you stay alive for another 5 seconds. Additional notes below.
2 Scavenger Killing an enemy causes them to drop all of their weapons, instead of just what they had in hand
12 Dodge Jumping while moving backwards or sideways will perform a quick dodging motion rather than a regular jump. Acrobat does not reduce the stamina cost of this.
3 Ranger Makes you move faster whilst aiming a bow or crossbow
3 Mule Adds a 4th inventory slot, which can only be used to pick up equipment
3 Butcher Increased melee damage to horses by 50%
6 Stun If an enemy attempts to block your attack while out of stamina, they will be briefly stunned in addition to being disarmed
2 Supplied Reduces the cooldown of Resupply Boxes by 33%
3 Tank Increases your size by 5.5%, move at a fixed speed regardless of armor (about 70% of normal), receive about 29% less damage from melee and ranged weapons, restricts turncaps, and significantly reduces passive health regen. Also makes Bloodlust only restore 50 health.
3 Dwarf Reduces your size by about 25%, reduces your movement speed by about 20%, and increases damage taken by 50%

Game-modes & Maps
Every game has maps! Even the most simple, like Pac-Man! But Mordhau is a Double A indie game with many Maps and game-modes. I have a list of every game-mode with a description of said game mode and the maps that go along with it.

Deathmatch
- FFA style mode, much like in COD but with long swords. Whom ever gets to 3000 (30) kills first wins.

Maps:

-Arena
-Camp
-Castello
-Contraband
-Crossroads
-Feitoria
-Grad
-Highlands
-Mountain Peak
-Taiga
-The pit
-Tourney
-Truce

Frontline & Invasion
- Tug-of-war style 40 minute long battle in which two sides of 24~40 players each team will participate in. The difference of the two is that Frontline is like real life frontlines, pushing like tug of war for one of two sides to claim victor-- Invasion is a timed battle of where one team must invade while the other protects as time drains.

Maps

-Camp
-Castello
-Crossroads
-Feitoria
-Grad
-Mountain Peak
-Taiga

Horde
- Much like most games, a "Zombie Defense" type game mode was implemented, however, instead of waves of the undead, we have mountains of peasants and armored knights.

Maps

-Camp
-Castello
-Crossroads
-Feitoria
-Grad
-Mountain Peak
-Taiga

Skirmish
- A 5 v 5 on who can get to 5~7 wins first, however, unlike most TDM games you don't respawn until one team claims victor for that round.

Maps:

-Arena
-Camp
-Castello
-Contraband
-Crossroads
-Feitoria
-Grad
-Highlands
-Mountain Peak
-Taiga
-The pit
-Tourney
-Truce

Team Deathmatch
- Much like Skirmish but you can constantly respawn and it's a race to get 3000 score.

Maps:

-Arena
-Camp
-Castello
-Contraband
-Crossroads
-Feitoria
-Grad
-Highlands
-Mountain Peak
-Taiga

Combat+
Woah! Slow down there champ! You still aren't ready for the toxic world of Mordhau! There are many things higher levels have up their sleeves that are too crucial to skip over~!

Repost-Feint

Normally, you shouldn't be able to Feint a repost- however, with this method, you aren't technically doing so either. This can REALLY ♥♥♥♥ New and Older players up, since it's not widely know to be possible. Simply swing or parry depending on what your opponent does and get into a repost scuffle. When in one, parry and feint right after, simulating a "repost".

Morph

To preform a Morph, you must first know what a Morph is. A Morph reminds me of a Feint on another level. It does the same job a Feint does, but smoothly and can be incorporated into Combos. To preform this war crime, you must stab or swing (which either you DON'T want to do in the end) and switch to the vise versa. Spear and Longsword are good for this. If you are having trouble with Morph spammers (like me) then use the age old strat of listening to a grunt.

Stop-to-hit

STH is when a weapon on hit of any object stops immediately, unless a kill. The weapons that do so are: Maul, Eveningstar (might change in the future), Mace, and Warhammer. This can cause a disadvantage to whom ever is using these selective weapons.

Ducks

DId you fall for a Feint? No problem! Happens to the best of players! Simply duck (crouch) and there is a 40% chance they'll miss! It REALLY pays off when you get the satisfying kill in the end too!

MISS-TO-PARRY

MTP is a broken ass exploit delivered in a neat package from Chivalry I. It allows the player to avoid the swing lockout after parrying or missing. Parry after getting fooled by a Feint? Simply feint yourself while going back to idle stance to get to idle stance early, letting you do what ever right after making a normally grave making mistake.

Chambers

Chambers are when the player swings at a certain frame as the enemy hits them to catch them off guard.

Combos

Combos are what you think they are, the combination of certain moves to make them come out as smooth as possible.

Punishers

When an enemy misses, and they don't preform MTP, they will have that brief lockout like I explained. To punish this miss, you could:

-Stab
-Kick
-Regain Energy
-Feint
-Drag*
-ETC.

Drags & Accels

Ever wonder why your opponent can hit you faster than you can? Even if it's a slower weapon? Well, their practicing the dark art of Accels~! (Writing Geeks I know Accel isn't a proper word on it's own but in terms of Mordhau it makes sense.) Anyways, an Accel is when a player drags* their camera forward to hit you quicker, thus being named an Accel. Elite V player, Stouty, consistently preforms this action with his Iconic Shark-Bladed Messer. However, shorter weapons, like Stouty's second main, the normal Axe, isn't too keen to this action-- again, HOWEVER, it can do something called Drag-- the core of an Accel.

Drags are really good if you want to confuse someone or punish them. Much like Accel-ing, all you need to do is turn your camera. It can give you the upper hand in Gambling and with a slow-swinging weapon it can confuse your enemy. One good way to utilize this, using a Zweihander, is while pulling off a full swing, turn your camera to your side, making the opponent block before it arrives.

Gambling

As I mentioned, dragging, can give you the upper hand in a gamble-- much like bribing the dealer (though I'd advise against that.) You may know what a gamble is, but do you in Mordhau? Probably not! A gamble is when you and your target swing at the same time towards each other and see who hits first. It's a gamble that can be easily one, but still a big risk, a risk on your life.

Active Shield Parry (Deox's idea & method)

Deoxyribonucleic Acid, actually came up with a intelligent Idea. When you Parry with a Heater, Round, or Kite shield, you gain a small window of invincibility. Older Veteran players might not have even known this existed, but it's quite overpowered when utilized and won't render Shields useless, according to the level 200 players that cheated their levels.

Weapon Modes

Certain weapons have an ability of switching a mode or stance altering the way the weapon works all together. That's actually where the name Mordhau rooted from. Mordhau is a German word meaning 'Fighting Stance' or killing blow. The so called "Killing Blow" was when you'd switch the direction of your sword so the hilt is facing up and smashing the head of your enemy.
Anyways, I have grouped weapons into categories to of which group them into what their respective "other mode" is.

Repair:
Heavy Hand axe
Warhammer & Blacksmith Hammer

Mordhau Mode:
Longsword
Estoc

Shorter, more damage:
Spear
Zweihander
Eveningstar
Halberd
Billhook
Bardiche
Poleaxe
Pole hammer (They've kept switching between repairing and damaging so might be miss information in the future.)

Thrown:
Maul
Short Spear
Buckler
Targe
Partisan
Arming Sword
Axe
Cleaver
Dagger
ETC.

Longer Block:
Every other shield
Horseplay (Nae-Nae Mobiles)
The horses (Unfortunately) have very little work put into them. The tutorial (for most) was unbelievably hard, like the game itself, but it wasn't even the combat that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up for newer players. The game's horses are as broken as the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ liberty bell. Stopping at hills, hard to use lance-type weapons, and most of all, hitting your own horse.

NAE-NAE MOBILES

The horses are the most buggy and broken thing since the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Ballistas. While the Ballistas are fun, Horses aren't. These horses are like something you'd see in a SpiffingBrit Video. Why? Well, even though it destroys the game's balance, it's even more broken when combo-ed with a Zweihander or Lance-type weapon-- if you know how to ride one, of course.

LANCE-TYPES

Other than the Zweihander, some weapons have a Tertiary mode whilst on horse back. It will point the weapon in a spear-type manner and impale your targeted opponent. These weapons consist of:

Halberd

Spear

Pole Hammer and Axe

Billhook

Partisan

Counter

There are two main ways to counter a Horse. Either use a bow and slowly tick at the horse's health, or use a Billhook. The Billhook isn't a weapon you see every day on the battle field. It's an awkward weapon to use and it't main use is just pulling off enemy Nae-Nae-ers. Simply swing and pull that mother ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horse rider to the floor.
