A Fresh Start (Genesis Mod-Mod)

Description
A Fresh Start seeks to add a handful of new characters and starts to enable different modes of play. Please note that this mod is built off of the Gensis mod and requires it to run.

MAJOR UPDATE (8/18/21): One new start with significant support (including two recruitable characters unique to this start) added. Four additional generally recruitable characters added. See notes for additional minor changes.

STARTS

Western/Southern Hive Exiles: This pre-existing start has been altered for balancing. Praetorians have been added as a playable race and armor/stats have been heavily adjusted to put them more in line with what you would expect from a group of exiled hivers. This is an easy start, but is designed with a "Hive only" game mode in mind.

Retired Tech Hunter: This is another easy start that has been specifically implemented as the only (current) in-game method of allying with the Tech Hunters. You begin allied with them, with one moderately skilled character, as well as a complete novice, both equipped with basic gear.

Cat-Lon's Exiles: Somehow your mind has broken free of your thralldom. While still a believer in the cause, you must now navigate life as a free legionaire of the Second Empire. Dialogue added to the Ashland Dome leaders... some may offer some significant assistance. Two unique recruits added that are only able to be recruited with this start. One of the other recruits, Refresh, has a special dialogue branch only unlockable with this start.

CHARACTERS

The characters added are done so specifically to allow the player guaranteed access to subraces that are otherwise very difficult to recruit (without mods).

Ixka: A Southern Hive Soldier Drone, Ixka is a slaver, with terrible regrets over their choice of work. Ixka has combat stats in the ~25 range, and can be recruited for 8k cats in the Eyesocket bar.

Cantrip: A Skeleton P4 MKI, Cantrip seems to have rather forgotten itself. Maybe you can help reforge a new identity? Cantrip can be recruited for free from the bar in Black Desert City, and has no starting stats.

Trinket: A Skeleton P4 MKI, Trinket dreams of forging fantastical artifacts... but has been sadly relegated to smelting duty. Maybe you can help them realize their destiny as a renowned smith. Trinket has very limited skills outside of weapon and armor smithing in the ~20 range, and can be recruited for 10k cats from The Forge.

HK-47: A Skeleton Z9 MKI, HK-47 exults in the slaughter of meat-bags. Not surprising then, that they'd inevitably end up in the clink. Free them, and maybe they'll recruit YOU in their ongoing efforts to rid the world of its fleshy pestilence. HK-47 has combat stats in the 20s, and can be recruited by freeing them from Tengu's Vault. NOTE: You must have at least one skeleton in your squad for HK-47 to consider letting you join them.

Kuko and Teus: An SL-M MKIII and ST-M MKIII respectively, the two are embroiled in a fierce debate. Each side intractable, perhaps an independant arbiter can decide the matter. However, don't expect the loser to be particularly grateful. Both are without skill, and may be found bickering in The Grand Bazaar. Only one is recruitable in any given playthrough, so choose wisely.

Officer Fivo: A Log-Head MKI, Officer Fivo is a relict of a bygone era, a career bureaucrat for a bureaucracy that has long since ceased to be. Skills in the mid-20s, Officer Fivo can be found at one of the defunct police barracks in either the Sniper Valley or The Pits.

Refresh: A Screamer MKI, Refresh awoke in a prison cell without any memory of who they were, or how they ended up there, having erased their mind to avoid their data falling into enemy hands. Since liberated, they are biding their time, hoping for some beacon of their past to help illuminate their future. Without skill, Refresh is available for recruit in the bar in Spring.

OPN-I: An ILA-M MKI, OPN-I is only recruitable to allies of the Second Empire. Combat skills in the 50s, OPN-I may be found in Leviathan

XR-14: A KLR-M MKIII, XR-14, or "Eksar", is only recruitable by allies of the Second Empire who are in possession of the necessary activation module. Without skill, Eksar is imprisoned in Catun, but can only be recruited after receiving the necessary activation module from General Jang.

@Ares Nothing in particular, I was just tossing it out. I love starts that give you a background with a particular faction or other backstory. You're the artist though, I was more just commenting since this is one of the only Genesis-centric starts.

@Vintage What do you have in mind? There are a million ways to go about creating a solo start, besides the ones implemented already with native. If you could give me some idea as to what you'd like to see in one I could potentially throw something together pretty easily.

I'd be interested in a Genesis related Solo Start. If you get bored lol

I create mods to address or augment my own games, but thought perhaps others might appreciate them as well. My focus for this project is to improve the experience for alternative play styles (for instance, a hiver or skeleton only play through). If anyone has any requests for more recruitable members of some overlooked sub-races, or alternative starts they'd like to see added to the game, please post and let me know! I can't promise I'll add it, but I'll definitely take any suggestions into consideration.
