Vehicle History

The Strv 74 or the "Stridsvagn 74", (In Swedish), was developed during the early 1950s in Sweden. It was a complete upgrade and modification of the Strv M/42 that had been the workhorse medium tank of the Swedish armed forces during WW2.
Some of the extensive upgrades of the Strv 74 were:

A new enlarged turret, featuring a new and more powerful cannon.

A 7,5cm Kanon Strv 74 was installed, which was basically a Modified anti aircraft gun from the 1920´s.

British tank parts were installed in the turret so as to keep the vehicle more up to date.

The transmission and Engine were upgradesd or replaced, and the tracks were Widened.

The Strv 74 was taken into service in the late 1950s and stayed in service until the early 1980´s. The Turrets were mounted on Coastal defences until the 2000´s after the vehicles were taken out of service.

Crew Manual | How To Use

The Interior and Crew Compartment is accessed through the Commanders Hatch On Top of the Turret.
There is a Drivers Seat and a Turret Seat.
To Controll the Vehicle you need to turn on the "Vehicle Electricity" Switch.
Electricity to the Turret systems is controlled by the "Turret Systems" Key.
W/S Controlls the Clutch and Brakes, A/D Controlls the Turning of the Tank.
To Talk on the Radio, Enter the Frequency into the Keypad and then Turn on the "Speak" Key.
You can turn on the Internal and External Lights from the Drivers Position.
The Cannon and the Turret are both controlled from the Turret Seat Position.
Refueling is Done from the Rear of the Tank.
Engine Bay is Accessed by Turning the Turret Sideways and opening the Hatches with a Key at the Rear.
The "Smoke Grenades" are launched from a instrument panel next to the Turret Seat.
The Turret is roted, and the gun is operated from the Gunners seat in the turret.
