Description
"I'm done with this, I'm leaving it on the shelf to rot away for the rest of time." ~ ALLOS, 2013

===== Map Introduction and Origin =====
Back in 2013, Past ALLOS released the final entry of the "Secure. Contain. Remake." series for Halloween, a series wherein the SCP games were remade in the Portal 2 engine. This final entry, entitled "SCP Containment Breach [V.4] [Omega]", was to be the last, unchangeable variable of the series, being the final take on the main Containment Breach game from this creator. It was supposed to end there, no further map updates, no criticism accepted, nothing.

Cut to seven years later…

===== Map Details Summary =====
Purely on a whim, I wanted to return to my simulated Aperture-branded SCP facility and bring it to Gmod, for further potential SCP adventures. Also partially inspired by the "Superstitious Foundation" song by CG5, which you can listen to here.

Stripped of several key assets Portal 2 added to Source, this is a fresh take on my last interpretation of the dark SCP facility; rebuilt with higher construction standards, better tricks in tow, and even some custom materials and new rooms added, to make the immersion all the better.

Map updates included:
~ Removed SCP-173 and SCP-372 from the facility
~ Refined the map design to look better in general
~ Fiddled with the Modular Site Project a tad
~ Removed the blink mechanic
~ Added lore
~ There are now 20 new, separate documents to find
~ Added new SCPs and/or their containment chambers
~ Restored 88.8
~ This map has also been split into multiple parts; split along the sectors, the individual parts are named rp_scpcbv4_a, rp_scpcbv4_b_alt, and rp_scpcbv4_c

If you haven't seen the previous version of this map, you might have a bad time.

NOTE: This map is not meant to portray the "true" SCP experience; it is instead an Aperture-branded variant, and all differences to the source material present are intentional unless stated otherwise.

So, with all that said; if any of you seeing this have been around my workshop long enough to remember the history of this map series of mine, I hope you enjoy this little nostalgia trip. To those of you new to this story, I hope you have fun here too. …well, as much fun as you can have in an underground facility full of anomalous entities, anyways.

Both the SCP Foundation and Aperture Science had huge budgets to do what they did; I, however, don't have all that amazing of a budget. So mayhaps you could fund my own mad science experiments by buying me a cuppa on Ko-Fi? [ko-fi.com]

Folks will tell you that the Source Engine map size limit is surprisingly small--and that checks out. When I was remaking this map for Gmod, I initially tried to have everything under the same map file, like the original version, only for it to not work--I was forced to split it apart by engine limitations. I was surprised too. It's just a rule I have to follow under, else my maps will not work. [2/2]

Source Engine maps have an internal filesize limit. For shorthand, I tend to call it the "map budget"; if you exceed the "budget", the map will break and refuse to compile until you remove enough stuff to fit back within the budget. (This is the same reason that my New Donk map is missing the two buildings in the back corners of the city)

The original version of this map, built in Portal 2, only worked because of the ability for me to use world portals to link rooms non-euclidian-ly, and probably something to do with Portal 2's branch of Source being newer, being a product of 2011 while Half-Life 2 and its episodes span from 2004-2007. You need a keycard to use the keycard doors.

And, a full version "using the smaller versions"? I'm not sure what you mean. The full actual SCP game experience? No can do. Having all of the sections in one map file? Literally impossible, they can no longer fit in the same file in HL2 Source.

The bean counters told me we literally could not afford to buy seven dollars worth of scp-999, much less seventy million. Bought ‘em anyway. Engineers said the scp-999 were too adorable to experiment on. Tested on ‘em anyway. Ground ‘em up, mixed em into a gel. And guess what? Ground up scp-999 gel is pure poison. I am deathly ill. Still, it turns out they’re a great portal conductor.
