Introduction
The advanced options (Rumble, Shake & FPS Limit) are not yet exposed in the Main Menu. You can adjust them in a hidden config file.
📂 Config.ini File Location (Windows)
Default location when Hollow Knight is installed on the C: drive:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Config.ini
If Hollow Knight is installed on a different drive than C:\:
DriveLetter:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Config.ini
🟨 You can create a backup of the Config.ini file to avoid any unexpected problems.
📝 Config.ini Configuration
When you open the Config.ini file in any text editor (like Notepad or Notepad++), it should look something like this:
🖥️ Config.ini - FPS Limit
To adjust the Frame Rate Limit for Hollow Knight, you can use this section:
[VideoSettings] FrameRateCap=400
Replace the default value (400) with any number other than 0. The most popular values are 60, 75, 120, 144.

🟨 This value will only have an effect, when you have V-Sync disabled, and Frame Rate Cap enabled in Hollow Knight's Video Options.

I usually put this at the same value as the Refresh Rate of my monitor (like 60 Hz) or a multiply of that. Higher values give less input lag (with diminishing returns). Lower values give less energy consumption, less CPU and GPU usage and less generated heat/noise by the PC.
It's good to strive for a balance between efficiency and input lag.
〰️ Config.ini - Screen Shake
To adjust how much the screen/camera shakes in Hollow Knight, you can use this section:
[Accessibility] CameraShakeMultiplier=1
Replace the default value (1) with any other value between 0 and 1.
Example values: 0 (no shake), 0.25, 0.5, 0.82.

🟨 Use dot (.) instead of comma (,).
🎮 Config.ini - Controller Rumble
To adjust the 🎮controller rumble/vibrations, you can use this section:
[Accessibility] (...) ControllerRumbleMultiplier=1
Replace the default value (1) with any other value between 0 and 1.
Example values: 0 (no rumble), 0.25, 0.5, 0.82.

🟨 Use dot (.) instead of comma (,).
🟨 Native Controller Input in HK's Controller Options needs to be ON for the Rumble to work correctly. (1)
🟨 Team Cherry noted in a Patch Notes, that Controller Rumble is "only supported for certain configurations, e.g. Xbox One controller on Windows". If you experience problems, try disabling it (0).
🟩 Rumble support may still be possible on non-XBox controllers when both Steam Input and Native Controller Input are ON. (2)

⚠️ Important information
🔵 Make sure to save the Config.ini file after changing any value. It's easy to forget about this.

🔵 Make sure the game is not running in the background before saving the Config.ini file. First exit the game, then open, edit and save the file.
