The Step by Step Guide to Official
Step 1: Collect 22 of your closest friends and convince them to commit their entire lives to amassing as many valuable pixels as possible. This is essential. As many Rust players will know, numbers will defeat skill in 99% of encounters. Through meticulous calculations and survey work, my team concluded that 23 was the ideal number of players in your group. Any less and you may be vulnerable to skilled players who are willing to exploit your lack of numbers to their advantage, and your key strategies (to be discussed further in step 3) will likely not work.

So now you may be wondering why you can't go over the magical 23 number. If the 23 person group limit is exceeded, your group exposes themselves to being called a Zerg, the worst insult in Rust. Thankfully, it is widely accepted within the Rust community that 23 is simply a large clan, and thus anyone calling you a Zerg in game or otherwise can be easily shut down by simply stating that your group is capped at 23, at which point they will be forced to apologise in humiliation.

Your group should look like this, but bigger ideally.

Step 2: Click onto the official tab when selecting a server for your wipe. Remember, you're in a Zerg large clan now, you've outgrown the community tab, you're better than that. This next part is key. Change the server filter to show servers with the smallest population possible. Ideally you can find a server where your large clan will double the active player count.

Finding such a server will be of great benefit to you and your clan as you get the best possible Rust experience. You and your clan mates will never have to worry about the threat of other players, as your superior numbers will ensure you have the best possible chance to trade out kills during fights, and thus never lose a single pixel.

Step 3: Lead your large clan into battle. Ensure that everyone is doing the exact same thing at the same time just in case a nasty naked manages to rock a couple of you to death. If one person is farming barrels on the road, you should ensure that there are at least 2 mini-copters and a scrap heli circling above and scouting ahead to ensure maximum levels of safety for your farmers. Using this strategy, you are set to never lose your precious pixels.

Step 4: Get bragging! You're now both a strategical and mechanical god of Rust. Let everyone, everywhere know how you're dominating official servers every single week, just you and a couple buddies in a clan. Let people know everywhere you can think of. Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube comment section, game chat, MySpace. Scream it in the middle of a shopping centre, anywhere there is a chance of someone possibly hearing about how good you are at Rust. Trust me people 100% want to hear about that kind of thing. And when they ask how, make sure you link them to this post so they too can find success on official! Just make sure they stay away from your server (see Step 2 for more information about competition).

Step 5: Repeat each and every week until you have 20,000 hours in Rust and a god-tier k/d of 0.01. Maybe don't tell people about this part actually (see Step 1 for more information about being called a Zerg).

And just like that you've made it to the end of our ultimate guide on how to succeed on Rust Official Servers! I hope you've found this information helpful, and I look forward to hearing everyone's success stories. If I can leave you with one thing, please remember, you are a large clan NOT a Zerg. Good luck official players. You got this.

Dear Davo,

It is a very well written and thought out guide, but as my nickname suggests, I am unable to finish the step #1.

Could you please assist me in troubleshooting the problem in the near future.

Thank you for your understanding.

This play style requires huge amounts of skill and coordination. Please don’t refer to it as a bot play style.
