Huge FPS increase with one simple command!
By ComradeDiamond
BF4 and many other Frostbite games have a tendency not to utilize your CPU to it's fullest potential, This guide will help you change that and in return gain between 20% - 50% performance increase!

What does the command do?
It allows the game to utilize your CPU threads to it's fullest potential, Meaning you'll be able to gain almost double the FPS after putting this command with little effort\graphical downgrade.
How to implement this console command.
Unfortunately...

You can't just write it in a user.cfg in your Battlefield 4 folder, You gotta dive deeper to it's original game .cfg, With that please make sure to backup it!

So with that out of the way, Let's get into it.

The original .cfg of the game is located in

C:\Users\*-Your user-*\Documents\Battlefield 4\settings

In there there are couple of folders, The one your are looking for called: PROFSAVE_profile

Make sure to open it as a notepad and proceed to add the next command.
Instead of the "X" please write the amount of threads.

GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount "X"

For me because I have a Ryzen 5 CPU it will be 12 hence the command will look like:

GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 12

For the classic Intel cpu's like 6th\4th gen CPUs it should look like this (4 or 8).

GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 4

Then you just add at the bottom of all the commands this command and you should be good to go.

After that it should look like this:

Don't forget to save after that! Or obviously this won't work.

You are done!
That's it pretty much.

Enjoy a butter smooth gameplay now and share this guide so other could too enjoy the game like you do now.

You can as-well create a user.cfg inside the game folder itself (The installation folder) to add other game commands too to improve the gameplay for you.
Video explaining how to do so.

So uh, after doing this command i cant change my resolution and some settings like depth of field are on even tho i have them off in settings

Any fix to this?

Just wanted to let people know that this still works. INSANE uplift.

I got about 250fps in the test range before, and about 650fps after. Not bad for 4K max settings! I set the "processor count" to 8, since that's how many physical cores I have. Setting it to 16 got me just above 700fps, but my CPU cooler was louder than I've ever heard it, lol. I'll keep the fps limited to 200 like default, but I know it'll never dip below that now!

For reference I have:
AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D CPU
RTX 4070 Ti Super GPU
32GB DDR4 RAM

Cheers! :winter2019happydog:

I kind of stopped wanting laptops after this happened. I took the risk of building my own pc after, and I was successful. (because you have to buy expensive parts and hope to GOD Above you can put them together and make it work). Building a pc is mostly about finding compatible parts and getting everything needed to make it a functionable computer which is many parts. Lots of youtube tutorials which I used.

Man that sucks, sorry to hear that been always gaming on a pc so never had to worry about these issues, So overheating is a pretty easy issue to solve for me.

I owned a msi gtx 880 8gb vram gaming laptop years ago and I blew the motherboard due to heat, because I hated how loud the fan was and I turned it down so it was more quiet. It was a nice laptop, and it had a quad core at 3.8ghz 8 thread cpu.
I could play modded Fallout 4 on it, most games ok but its dead, probably because of the fan.

If you monitor your cpu and gpu for heat and its doing ok, then think about pushing it but they don't put x470 crosshair hero mother boards in their laptops, or x370 Taichis which are the mbs in my PCs that I really don't have to worry about, ever.

As for pre-builts, I was talking about Best Buy pre builts or walmart, not some high end ultra expensive. On a laptop, if your gpu is working hard, it effects the cpu alot because they're so close together. IMO if you want your laptop to last don't push it too much. If it feels really hot, maybe turn some graphic settings down.

Besides, If the guy didn't came back then i'm sure he's having a fine time.

Well, I somewhat agree, I think he should try first and then come into conclusions, However if it's a a regular PC I believe it shouldn't have any problems since almost every PC nowdays has a pretty decent cooling system, Even the prebuilts (Unless it's a high-end system which there is the cooling kinda suck.) It's up to you my man, Test, Try, See the results, Even if it overheats this shouldn't destroy your computer immediately, And if it does i'd really suggest looking to upgrade the CPU block and fans of your PC, It's the bare minimum you can do.

You need actual cooling. Cooling is based on air flow in and air flow out. Cooler air comes in, warmer air goes out, the MORE cool air you have go in and the MORE warm air that goes out the cooler the cpu/gpu or the microchip runs.

Its not rocket science and anyone that over complicates it is trying to appear a big shot while deceiving you, which happens ALOT with pc guys.

Water cooling is still air cooled. The water must be cooled by air. If a radiator has no AIR cooling, the water will over heat and your cpu/gpu will overheat. So it all comes down to air in air out. If you can get lots in and out you have a fine running machine and HOT WATER cools jack, it makes steam and blows out stuff.
