Mario Kart 2 (V30) (Advanced Guide)

An advanced guide for one of the most popular unofficial community maps.
Also included are server IP's of the most popular Mario Kart Servers so you can play ASAP.

Introduction

Mario Kart, since its creation has been one of the most popular unofficial TF2 maps ever made.
Adjusting to this map and learning all of its secrets takes a lot of time.
It is also an excellent map for all classes, especially snipers.

There are two types of Mario Kart maps, this is the first one (despite the name of the map).
The second one is a remastered version with graphical updates to the main map and a lot of fancy additions.

Servers running this map should have the goomba stomp plugin which allows players to instantly kill enemies by landing on their head.

Map Overview - Main Map

This is the main map. You are most likely to spawn here (either your team's spawn or your team's Catbus)

9) Entrance to the Hill Area (Hidden by a non solid surface)

Map Overview - Hill Area

This is the Hill Area.
You will spawn here every once in a while on one of the blue colored marks.

1) 2nd Control Point
2) Pipes
3) Possible Hill Area SpawnPoints for both teams
4) SpawnPoint after using one of the Hill Area entrances in the Main Area
5) The Sun (You can stand on its top)

Spawning

You may spawn in quite a few different spots depending on chance.

• 1) Your Base
  You will frequently spawn here.
  
  
• 2) The Hill Area
  You will uncommonly spawn here.
  
  
• 3) CatBus
  You will spawn here more uncommonly.
  The CatBus is always moving, which means if you time it right, you could land on one of the glass platforms. As a Sniper, upon getting there you will be rather hard to kill.
  
  
• 4) The WaterBox
  You will rarely spawn here.
  If you do, there isn't much to do other than either hitting the "!" panel with your melee to respawn.
  Or you could wait to attack respawning opponents, or even construct buildings as an Engie!

Preventing Spawn Killing:
Is your spawn being overrun by spawnkilling maggots?
Don't worry, there is a way out.


See that small keypad on the wall? You are going to have to use your "use" key on it and it will spawn a sentry of your team's color on top of that blue block over there. The keypad has an unlimited number of uses, but it has a cooldown though.
Blu's base also has a keypad.

The "use" key is unbinded by default and if you want to use it you are going to have to bind it trough console commands. Open the console and type:
bind THEKEYYOUWANT "+use"
and then press enter.

Control Points and You

Both areas of the map have 3 CP's in total.
Capping a Control Point has consenquences for the opposing team deppending on which point you capture.

1st) Capture Point - Center House
Capping this point will cause the inside of the opposing team's spawn to explode once and kill everyone inside it.

2nd) Capture Point - Hill Area
Capping this point will place a hostile sentry in your opponent's spawn.

3rd) Capture Point - SkyBox
"Boom goes the Dynamite" The most destructive event in the game happens when this point is captured.
The enemy team in the main area takes huge ammounts of rapid damage.
In the Hill Area its raining damaged explosive barrels, killing EVERYTHING that was in it.

The only way to survive a "Boom Goes the Dynamite" event if you see that the opposing team is about to succesfully capture the 3rd point is if:
a) You are in the Main Area: Run for your spawn and stick to the resupply cabinets until you are no longer taking damage.
b) You are in the Hill Area: Either run for the small pipe with the skull icon next to it, or quickly get on the highest cloud in the area and crouch for about 8 seconds.

Vehicles

What's Mario Kart without vehicles?
You will find it hard to snipe while you are in a vehicle (Inlcuding the MotorBike and the Catbuses).
Sniping a driver of a vehicle is also also glitchy and sometimes your shots will miss.

The Red Karts:
Speed: Fast
Size: Small
Notes: You are a pretty easy-to-kill target if the vehicle is going in a straight line.

The Tank:
Speed: Slow
Size: Big
Note: The movement of the tank is extremelly glitchy, you will be hard to hit even at point blank range.

The 4chan Party Van:
Speed: Medium
Size: Big
Note: Its a party van! More people can get in and ride with you. In some servers it may be possible to construct buildings in it.

The MotorBike:
Speed: Fast
Size: Medium
Note: It circles arround the center building at fast speed and slows down when on the glass platform above the thwomp deathtrap.

The CatBus:
Speed: Medium
Size: Big
Note: Slightly glitchy but otherwise perfect for sniping
The enemy team can get inside your CatBus at anytime.

The Tunnel & The Pool

In the pool on top of the tunnel is a health pack, an ammo pack, and a secret passage to the Pool Party room.
To get to the room, go inside the pool on top of the tunnel and touch the brown circle.

The small rainbox block behind the small pool will lead you back to the top of the tunnel.
The small pool inside the Disco Room also has a non solid surface which you can go trough.

It will lead you to either the ground floor of The Center Building or The Meat Room depending on which route you take.

The Center Building / House

The Center Building:

• The top (Roof and a medium Ammo Pack)
  
• The 1st Floor (CP room/Big Disco Room, also has teleporter to the top of the tunnel)
  
• The Ground Floor (2 hallways and a total of 3 non solid paintings you can go trough: Luigi's Tires, iNO U, Purple Picture with circles)
  If you get cought in the Thwomp Glass Room DeathTrap, melee the switch with a speaker on it.
  
• The Underwater Area (Entrance to The Meat Room and the small Disco)

Pipes & Teleportation

Throughout the map there are several pipes and scripted teleporters that may be obvious or even hidden.
NOTE: Hitting any water dispenser on the 1st floor of the center building will teleport you to a DeathRoom.

Other Secrets

All of these secrets are reachable only by nocliping.

  Using a melee on one of the buttons triggers the following:
  (order from left to right)
  
  
• 1) Makes a LvL 3 Sentry on your team's CatBus' tail.
  
• 2) Forces Boom Goes The Dynamite Event on the opposite team.
  
• 3) Makes a random explosion somewhere on the map.
  
• 4) Makes a LvL 3 Sentry on the opposing team's CatBus' tail.
