Co-op fix: 3rd player can't connect

Dying Light has this infamous glitch where you can co-op with 1 friends but the third man can't join even if you've all played together before. I just found this work around using an Online Lan setup so that me and 3 other guys can play together again.

Quick run through

If you've ever used these Network Management apps like Hamachi or ZeroTier then this should be really easy for you.

Basically, we're going to emulate a Lan connection. Hamachi/ZeroTier is going to connect your networks together (on a separate network other than your current network) and have fake/assigned IP's on each of your PC's so privacy should still be pretty secure.

TL;DR: download app that emulate Lan so you can play with friends because Dying Light Online Servers is an amazing service with zero faults whatsoever.

Hamachi sucks use ZeroTier

Step #1: Download.

Step #2: Install.

Step #3: Make account so you access your website server lists.

Step #4: Make your friends do Step #1 & #2.

This should be what you guys see after install.















Step #5: Send them the NETWORK ID of your created server and make sure to choose if you want it Public or Private. (Private means they won't get deleted after 30 days of inactivity but you have to approve them when they join in ZeroTier Central -aka the website)

Once they join your network you're basically done. Head in-game for the next step.

In-game setup for Lan to work

Step 1#: Start up the game.

Step 2#: There should be an "Online" section in the Settings and just switch it from Public/Private to Lan. Your friends should do the same.

Step 3#: Now Start a game like usual except your friends can't join via Steam invite/join nor see you in the online list in-game. They have to find you in the Matchmaking when they press ESC while in-game themselves.

Step 4#: Takes a while but your Name or whoever the Hostname is, should pop up. Latency differs depending on how good your internet is but even if you're in the red bar, Lag doesn't really matter. The worst you or your friends are gonna experience is a slight delay in hits of the enemies. Host is unaffected as you can imagine.

Is ZeroTier or Hamachi safe?

Yeah. These apps are used for official businesses and even simulate IP addresses so yours doesn't really get revealed/used.

Why do you prefer ZeroTier to Hamachi?

ZeroTier only needs one person to create an account to host and keep the server. Other people just need to download, install, and join for it to work. Hamachi wants everyone to make an account and confirm it. Pain in the

Me and my friend have 1 red bar in-game?

Lag/Latency isn't really a problem in this game. The worst you'll experience is probably a slight delay in hits. Note that if one of your friends leaves and it's only the 2 of you left, just set it to online in the settings and join each other the normal way, less lag.

Can I go back from Lan to Online anytime?

Yup. Just change it back in Dying Light settings, you can leave ZeroTier running in the background if you want.

Can I/we just uninstall ZeroTier/Hamachi after we're done?

Yes, in fact I recommend it. Though this trick/app is very useful and it works on a lot of games that won't let you join your friends, it's best to uninstall these network imitation apps if you really aren't using them after that. Windows and other applications gets real picky when it detects your PC has more than 1 Network, based from experience. So just uninstall it like any other app, and if you want 1 step further, just search Network Reset in windows settings after you've uninstalled. As you can imagine it resets your network.

P.S. Reset forces your internet connection off and a 5 minute countdown to restart so don't do anything important before resetting.
