Video settings
OK first are general settings :
Brightnes :
Increasing brightnes will help you see CT or T faster.

Resolution :
Pros play in 4:3 aspect ratio
You will get used to the new resolution after one game.

Hud :
Just don't make it to big, ok?

Now advanced settings
Even if I have a powerful computer I like to play in low settings

Global shadow quality / Models / Effect / Shader
Even if you have this at low you will be able to see shadows, thus, seeing if a player will come around the corner allowing you to pre-fire.

Multicore rendering / Anti-Aliasing
I keep this settings disabled, they make things look more perfect and not hard and edgy.

Vertical sync
This is the only one importnant, do you ever play and sometimes it just freezes, maybe when you get killed or in an intense shooting? Keeping this on triple buffed will decrease visual tearing.
Mouse settings

I am using a razer mouse called Naga, if you are more into mouses it has 8200dpi. And yes I know I use and mmorpg mouse but it suites me. But when it comes to mouse sensitivity you should keep it slow and smooth. I suggest you also get a bigger mouse mat (I am using an razer mouse mat).

Mouse sensitivity :
Keep it low, you can't have it to full blast and expect headshoots.

Other is not important.
Crosshair
The crosshair is the most important thing when it comes to aiming. I will tell you how to get my crosshair or you can create your own one ont this site : www.krisskarbo.com/csgocrosshair/‎

You must open console (the key next to one, enable it in game settings) and paste this in. If it does not work paste it in while you are ingame.
cl_crosshairstyle 5;
cl_crosshaircolor 5;
cl_crosshaircolor_r 250;
cl_crosshaircolor_g 50;
cl_crosshaircolor_b 255;
cl_enablecrosshairalpha 1;
cl_crosshairalpha 255;
cl_crosshairdot 2;
cl_crosshairsize 0;
cl_crosshairthickness 0.55;
cl_crosshairgap -1;

!!IMPORTANT!!
Now that you have the crosshair, we must go into game settings and change the crosshair style to Classic Dynamic

Weapons
If you are coming from a game like COD it will take some time to get use to the new recoil and spread in this game. I see too many people spray with the ak acros the map and panic with the awp. The problem is that once you start spraying with a gun its bullets start to go upwards so you must pull your aim down to even hit someone (don't aim at the head while spraying with an smg)

Now there is a diference betwen an rifle and a smg in CS. By shooting acurate with an rifle you must stand still or better - strafe shoot. This is the kind of shooting when you move from one direction to another and shoot only when you change directions (from left to right).
But smg are better because you do not need to do this you can run around and shoot at people (don't forget topull your aim down).

Crouching vs standig up :
Some say there isn't a difference betwen in accuracy. If you are standing up you have increase mobilty and enemis have a harder time giving you a headshoot (easier if you are crouched and standing still) but your accuracy is decreased so you must strafe shoot or in short burst (3 bullets - move - 3 bullets - move).
Finish
Well I hope you learn something from this, it was my first guide. I may update it and all and now keep in mind just because you read this doesn't mean you are not going to die the next game you go into. You can also add me and we will play together some ranked matches to see me in action. Also if you want to trade I would like to get some winter offensive cases. I will trade you whatever you want for them. Happy headshootin peeps!

I recommend to leave Multi-core rendering on for older processors and newer AMD processors. Intel processors have more powerful cores, while AMD often requires multiple cores to run smooth. In order to get rid of the fluctuation, use fps_max to set the fps limit to the average you have for less lag. I currently have it set to 64 because that gives less tearing and my PC isn't that powerful.

I don't agrre with you that low sensitivity isn't better, even in other tutorials they recommend low sensitivity (including tips from NiP)

@Honsou, BTW, they use 4:3 because back then, the monitors were still box type. The ratio back then was mostly 4:3. They used 4:3 alot in CS 1.6, and they were used to it. So they used 4:3 in CS:GO too.

Thanks for the info Soapmactuna, agreed that the resolution is not important and you could use a different one, but as you said Nip uses it and os do I. I just thought that if someone wants to change the resoultion that is the one that most players (and pro players) use.

LOL, im Gold Nova 3 Rank and got called a hacker a lot :D

@Honsou , there's no reason to use 4:3 because most pros use it (includes NiP). They use 4:3 because they are used to it since they're playing since CS 1.6 . It's better to recommend 10:9 since it has more area covered than 4:3 and you would get a far more larger coverage on the X axis.

You will have lag only if your computer is not good enough. I have it on now and it is not different.
GVRRY May 4, 2014 @ 3:14pm
Do not turn on V-Sync! This option causes tremendous input lag which is awful for a game like CS:GO.
