Fixes and useful stuff

All contained fixes,tips are working for every Call of Duty version (1.1-1.5) and United Offensive (1.41-1.51).

1. Sync Every Frame ( FPS LIMIT stuck on 60 or 91 )
1) When your game is opened go to -> options -> performance -> sync every frame ( should be off ).
2) Now open your console with tilda ( ~ - under esc button ) .
3) Type inside console with your keyboard /com_maxfps 125,250,333 depends on your needs and how much your PC can get.

2. Field of View
1) Go to your Call of Duty directory. Example: X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty\Main and open config_mp.cfg file. Best for editing cfg files is Notepad++. Steam might be in different location, it depends on where you installed it.

2) Now find seta cg_fov "xx" and change "xx" to any number. Example: "95".

3) Save file and it should work (If it's not working then right click on cfg file -> properties -> read-only

3. Darkscreen on fullscreen fix
1) When your game is started, open console with tilda ( ~ - under esc key ).
2) Type inside console with keyboard /r_overBrightBits 0 and press ENTER.
3) Type inside console with keyboard /vid_restart and press ENTER.

VOILA. Now your screen shouldn't be dark anymore and should respond to brightness settings!

4. Widescreen and custom aspect ratio support
1) Go to your Call of Duty directory. Example: X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty\Main and open config_mp.cfg file.
Widescreen Support Part
2) Change seta r_mode to seta r_mode -1 to allow custom resolutions
3) Change seta r_customheight and seta r_customwidth to your liking (Examples 640x480, 1024x768, 1440x900, 1660x1020, 1920x1080) goes by r_customheight x r_customwidth ( seta r_customheight "1920", seta r_customwidth "1080" ).
Custom Aspect Ratio Support Part
4) Change set seta r_customaspect to your liking (e.g. 1.6 - 16:10, 1.7 - 16:9).
5) Save changes and close the file.
6) As mentioned in field of view point it might need read-only.

5. Buffer Overrun error on startup
First way:
1) Go to your Call of Duty directory. Example: X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty and right click on CODMP.exe or CODUOMP.exe depends of which game you'd like to be fixed -> rename -> mohaa.exe.
2) Launch the game, now should work properly.

Second way:
1) Go to your Call of Duty directory. Example: X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty and right click on CODMP.exe or CODUOMP.exe depends of which game you'd like to be fixed -> rename -> quake3.exe.
2) Launch the game, now should work properly.

Third way:
1) Go to this link: https://www.dlldll.com/atioglxx.dll_download.html and download the file.
2) Paste .dll file to your cod1 directory Example: X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty
3) Launch the game, now should work properly.

6. Download failure while getting xxxx (This error won't happen on 1.1-1.4 but might on 1.1x ).
1.1x:
It most likely means that URL is invalid or rather it isn't on server owner fastdl server.
Other versions:
1) Close game
2) Locate file that was causing this error
3) Delete file, open game and reconnect to the server
Additional 4) Clean your game from non-orignal pk3 files and mod folders inside cod directory ( Example: X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty ). Original ones are (pak0-9,a,b.pk3), (localized_languagae_pak0-4.pk3)

7. Couldn't load weapon file xxx_mp
1) Go to Multiplayer Options -> Click on Allow downloading to make it Yes.
2) Reconnect to the server.

no luck finding the file to change cg_fov

16:9, fov and fps work, but I get random stutters, in tutorial can be noticed when picking a weapon, but in the game too, after random events there will be long stutters, aka 1 to 2 seconds of freezing, any known fixes?

also when i'm recording this game there's audio for like the first 5 minutes, and then it's silent, and the only thing you hear is my voice.

help i can't switch to another window. I'm trying to go to obs to fix the game capture, because when i record the screen is small, but it just flashes a black screen and instantly brings me back to the game, also the cursor changes indicating the window opened, but when i click the cursor changes back to the one for the game. I've tried Alt+F4, and using the windows key on the bottom of the keyboard.

If 5th fix doesn't work for you. Well, what's your OS then? If it's Win8 then that's the problem and you should install win10 or 11

Full screen change didn't let me launch the game with 1920x1080. I had to change it back.
Currently, the best resolution w/o losing any content on the screen is 800x600.
Any advice?
