Burlington Northern SD60 Pack

(Requires Halton’s EMD SD60 and SD60M PhII Pack).

BN 8300, 8301 and 8302 were the first SD60s to be built, arriving on the scene in October 1985. They were demonstrator locomotives that spent most of the 1980s (and a few years in the 90s) leased to Burlington Northern. Whilst in BN’s care the engines were painted in the cascade green livery, complete with ‘tiger stripes’ on the front. If my research is correct, 8300, 8301 and 8302 were the only SD60s ever used by BN.

After the BN lease ended, the three SD60 demonstrators returned to EMD, who used them as demonstrator / lease units once again. Eventually the former BN 8300, 8301 and 8302 were acquired by CSX, who renumbered them as 8787, 8788 and 8789 respectively.

CSX kept using these engines until their retirement in 2017, after which they were sold to Larry’s Truck and Electric; a scrapping / rebuilding / leasing company based in McDonald, Ohio.
