Description
LITTORAL WARFARE 2022
This scenario is set in an alternate historical timeline, where a continuous state of threat and war has carried on past the 20th century and into the present. NATO and its allies have been facing warfare and violent threats in the form of terrorism, piracy and civil wars, as well as conventional warfare between major players such as China, the USSR, North Korea, and Brazil. The constant conventional and asymmetric warfare has led to a massive increase in military spending across the world, leading to much larger and powerful militaries than those that are seen today. These are comprised of ultra-modern equipment and previously cancelled projects and weapons systems. Other technologies and weapon systems of the 20th century was also mass-produced and can still be found in the front lines today due to the higher demand, leading to cold war-era relics fighting alongside and against modern opponents.

An Iranian-based terrorist cell has taken the opportunity in the rise of recent international conflicts to expand their operations. In a few short months, this small cell was able to expand into a regional network, extorting, bribing, and murdering their way up the food chain.
Meanwhile, an Iranian corporate business centered around ship building had been hemorrhaging cash for the past few years. On the brink of bankruptcy, its top executive decided to make a deal with the devil and buy into the terrorist operation. Soon, the enemy had a foothold in the sea.
After several weeks of preparation, this new nautical terrorist group has apprehended its fair share of fishing and other smaller boats, scavenging what they can to shore up their operation and committing acts of terrible suffering upon crews not willing to join and too proud to keep their lips sealed. A week ago, they made their first big score; a medium-range Panamax tanker loaded heavy with oil. This news made national headlines and soon trickled into the world wide web, where counter-terrorism experts and analyzers were hard at work with several other similar events that have recently taken the world by storm. This time, however, it was noted that the tanker was chased down and captured by a retired Iranian Corvette, sold to a local small-time shipping company for scrap metal. An armed and dangerous terrorist-held warship could prove to be quite high profile and volatile for the region, especially with such heavy international traffic of oil- which the United States was in critical need of due to the current and future conflicts. The event was filed, placed on a special high priority database, and sent to the top. A week later, the Eagles had arrived...

Agree with Mike, got a win but also couldn't locate the base even with the Predator.

Nice scenario! Bagged 4 pirate craft, rescued the mothership crew but couldn't find the base. Was I supposed to get a warning about its position? I could see the reference points but the Nighthawk didn't spot anything.
