10 Must-Have MODS to greatly Improve your Experience
By B3rgman
The goal: optimize your game-play, conveniently, performance and immersion wise. There's no other way around, if the game's good, there shall be mods, lots of them. In this case, with just a few mods this amazing game becomes tenfold better. Albeit my personal opinion, there's no risk in it. and I WONT break your immersion. Only good taste and need-based from this point.

Maybe you played already with some Mods, or perchance you wish to try it for the first time... either way, you'll find something useful. Have fun

Horus 2.0 KCD Reshade Preset

Reshade first hum? Yeah, definitely. The visual improvement is massive. Honestly, I can't play almost any game without it. This preset is a complex set of filters where contrast is enhanced, luminosity becomes less washed, blacks are true blacks, sharpness is adjusted to a fine balance and color become slightly more vibrant. No FPS hit, I assure you.

1. Download latest Reshade tool here [reshade.me].

2. Run set up tool.
2.1 Select KingdomCome.exe ( usually on ...\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Bin\Win64)
2.2 Choose appi direct 3d 10/11
2.3 Download effects (automatic)
2.4 Edit preferences if desired (e.g. show clock, fps, tutorial?)

3. Download the preset (compressed) here [www.nexusmods.com]

4. Extract the file Horus 2_0 KCD.ini to your game executable folder. Same as above... \steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Bin\Win64

5. Run the game.

6. Select the preset via "Home" key in the reshade ingame menu. You may want to define a toggle key too.

Ps: I'm the author of this mod, it's not a big thing actually, everyone can tweek the filters ingame and find some nice settings too. This one I've being working on it since first reshade versions, cross-multiple games

30 FPS Cutscene Fix

This should be and must be the very next first thing to do in your game. All cutscenes are locked to 30fps, it might prevent lagging in some old potato rigs but it's such a break in immersion that made me look for a solution since day one.

There's a few available, this one here [www.nexusmods.com] is the easiest and most convenient.

Just drop the extracted folder "Cutscene Fix" right into your mods folder, if you don't have it create one named "Mods" in the game folder usually on ...\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance
Press F3 when a cutscene starts and you'll witness a miracle.

Cooking cauldron flickering smoke Fix

There's a pretty common glitch reaaally anoying with a flickering smoke every time you find a campfire with a cauldron boiling at night. This guy manage to fix the glow parameters and the smoke is now corrected.

You can find it here [www.nexusmods.com]

Like the previous mod, the extracted folder "Cooking cauldron smoke Fix" right into your mods folder the same your created in the previous Mod.
Performance

Ultimate Performance Graphics

Even if you have a decent rig you'll experience almost 100% sure huge fps drops, freezes, stuttering and whatnot while playing, especially in towns, heavy populated areas or just anywhere. Hell, I've a RTX2070 and I was used to drop below 30fps every time entering Ratay with high settings, NOT ANYMORE.

The difference is so impressive it made me contact the author tho thank him personally.

1. Add the following launch command in your game properties via steam, epic or whatever
-heapsize 1572864 +exec user.cfg

2. Head here [www.nexusmods.com]

Now there's a few files to choose considering your PC capabilities.

3. Download and unzip the user.cfg file that suits your computer and extract it to the root of your game folder usually ...\Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance

4. If you find the fish-eye effect (FOV) too much edit the user.cfd with notepad to "cl_fov 80" instead of "90"

5. Enjoy.

Gameplay
First-person Herb Picking

Pick herbs is gonna be a hobby, them it'll become something you'll cherish close to your heart, because of their boosts and benefits. Nothing more annoying than the herb-picking-3rd-person animations to make you squeak in pain.

You'll find the solution here [www.nexusmods.com]

Translucent Helmet Vision

Games like Metro-exodus, found a way to make your helm important without literately taking half of your screen away. Well, in KCD you'll regret the first time you put your helm on.

Not anymore, but you need to go here [www.nexusmods.com]

I recommend the 75% opacity file, to keep some of the devs work. :)
Same as always, download and extract to Mods Folder

Mind the purists and the reality seekers that the immersion-hit for those might be considerable. Personally I couldn't stand as it was an the semitransparent effect felt right, like is my brain adapting to the limited view and after a while it's bearable.

A Sorted Inventory

Ever wonder why your inventory is such a mess?
Well, this guy deserves an altar, he had the brilliant idea to add tags to each item. Result: everything is order according type in your inventory. Easy to browse, easy to find. God's sent gift.

Bow Dot Reticle

You know that useful yellow reticle dot, always pointing your direction?
Well, it goes away soon you aim your bow.. yeah right!! When you need it the most, probably making you shoot like a blind man.

This one solves that.
Its a small fix, you just need to add a line to your user.cfg file. Yes, the file from the second Mod of this guide.

Cheats, allegedly.
Don't worry, the goal here is to make your experience pleasant, not punish you for trying. The last two mods fall in this category, but if you want immaculate immersion, skip them.

Unlimited Saving

if your're a player like I was 10 years ago with 5-hour sessions everyday, this won't bother you much.
But right now, with 2 kids and a wife always calling in the best moments of my ME-TIME, this is a must.
It allows you to save anytime, without Saviorsnaps

Lockpicking Overhaul

Forget Skyrim, Reckoning or other game with mini-games for lockpicking. KCD aint it. And I'm glad it aint. This mod only auto-open locks if you already are above that level in lockpicking, So that's no cheat right? you still have to try and improve on every easy lock you find

Choose the normal version, Off-course, and drop it on the Mods folder.

*EDIT!! It sucks but for the moment this Mod isn't available on nexus.

However you can download my own mod folder from my drive. Its the "normal" version tho, so no cheating. And don't worry the files are clean.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iesuwQCZvs1h0pDjrNsal5drkp5OQK6S/view?usp=sharing

Just decompress the folder to you Mods Folder as usual.
Hopefully this mods returns soon to nexus for you guys to endorse properly the autor

Final Considerations
This is a very modest list, and there's plenty more with enough quality to share, but immersion wise, those might go too far, and my goal was just optimize your experience.

Let me know what you think of it in the comments section below, or if you have some troubles using any one of them.

Have fun, don't forget to endorse de mods and share some praise to the authors of this life saving pieces of art. AS for me, just thumb up if you find my guide usefull

Have a good life😉

Thanks Zoso, you see, sometimes it's easier to vent some bile. It's a modest guide, probabilly outdated, but it was one I made to help people with same preferences. But gamer are still reading it and fav it, that's enough for me.
Zoso Sep 28, 2023 @ 7:43am
Wow, the comments for this guide really don't give much reason to create a guide. This is an excellent guide and I'm enjoying the mods you recommended. I don't get why losers like Stray don't make their own guide, though looking at their profile and reading that comment it's pretty clear they're just an awful person in general.
