Savoia-Marchetti SM 79

The SM 79 was a trimotor, low wing multirole aircraft, often referred to as "the workhorse of the italian air force". It acted as a scout, a bomber, a torpedo bomber and as a transport.

Before WW2 it managed to break countless records and beat many competitions, such as three of these crafts travelling from Italy to Rio de Janeiro in 24 hours at the speed of almost 400 km/h. Or 3 of these winning the 1rst, 2nd and 3rd place in an air race from Istres to Paris.

It was surnamed "The cursed Hunchback" during WW2 by both the British and italian propaganda due to its lines.

During WW2 its torpedo configuration managed to sink countless British merchants and destroyers, and damaging cruisers and even aircraft carrier Indomitable and battleship Nelson.

The in game is the version bis TM version with a torpedo loadout.
