Union Pacific AC4400CW No. 6344 (grey ghost)

(This is my own take on the Grey Ghost; the original was made by Halton).

UP 6344 was built by General Electric in 1995, originally for the Southern Pacific Railroad as their number 298. Following Union Pacific’s acquisition of SP in 1996, the former 298 was renumbered to 6344, and remained in SP colours (albeit with UP patches).

This locomotive is perhaps best known for her unique ‘grey ghost’ livery, which she only carried around 2005 and 2006 (I think; I couldn’t find out exactly when, or why the livery ever existed in the first place), after being repainted in Tacoma, Washington. What I do know is that by 2007, she had been repainted in the standard Union Pacific ‘armour yellow’ livery.

Nowadays UP 6344 is still in service, and is now 26 years old. The most recent picture of this locomotive I could find was from April 2021.
