how i was able to make deus ex invisible war work FOR ME IT COULD WORK FOR YOU
By Inception900
now i followed detailed instructions that i will post here in the exact order that i followed it thanks to all parties involved if you recognized these instructions to be from a guide you might have created

(PLEASE IM NEW TO PC GAMING AND A NOOB AT THE MOMENT WHEN IT COMES TO BEING PC SAVY SO if you ask me any questions i probably wont be of much help sorry but if you follow the instructions it should be fine for you as well)

1) Download and install the Steam version.

2) Run the application - it will crash and might even cause your computer to restart - all part of the plan.

3) Next, head over to https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Deus_Ex:_Invisible_War#Essential_improvements and download the Visible Upgrade: Unofficial patch for Deus Ex 2 and install it. It will create 2 desktop icons for you. (ONCE YOU ENTER THE VISUAL UPGRADE TWEEKER GO TO DISPLAY AND SET THE DISPLAY TO WINDOWED MODE ONCE THE GAME RUNS COMPLETELY YOU CAN SWITCH IT BACK TO FULL SCREEN)

4) Then on the same page on PG Gaming Wiki, download dgVoodoo 2 and extract into the file called 'System' in the game files (just right-click on the desktop Icon titled 'Deus Ex with Visible Upgrade' and select 'Open File Location'.

5) Open dgVoodooCpl (you must run as administrator) in the game files and keep all settings as they are. Make sure 'keep window aspect ratio' and 'capture mouse' are ticked, then on the 'DirectX' tab make sure 'dgVoodoo Watermark' is unchecked. Hit OK.

now after those steps are done do this next WERE GETTING THERE YALL

7) Now you're ready to launch the game...but not play it. Double-click on your icon and you should successfully get to the menu screen. Play around with the resolution in the graphics settings on the menu - I'm running mine on 1600x1200 (4:3). Now if you select new game, you should get the start cinematic to play, and then it'll crash on load. The game is completely unplayable still, because every load screen it will just crash. Keep reading for the fix.

8) The fix lies in Task Manager. Follow step by step. First, download a program called 'Process Lasso' https://bitsum.com/. Launch it.

9) Run 'Deus Ex with Visible Upgrade' and get to the menu screen. Then press 'control' + 'shift'+ 'esc' and task manager will launch. Close task manager.

10) Head over to your Process Lasso window and locate the Deus Ex application under the list of processes. It should be called 'DX2Main.exe'. Right-click on it. Select 'CPU Affinity' --> 'Always' --> and check CPU 0 and CPU 1.

11) Close Process Lasso and re-open Deus Ex. Quit the game.

NOTE THE GAME WILL STILL CRASH AFTER THIS BUT FOLLOW THOSE STEPS WERE ALMOST DONE

START THE GAME AGAIN BUT DO THIS

2. Open the "VisibleTweaker" tool and set it to Windowed Mode. [Image 1]
Setting this will allow you to examine your task manager during the black screen/freeze to see which program is
conflicting with the game.

3. Boot the game.
Set your preferred resolution through the in-game video options.
The game will stall (freeze) at a black/gray screen after starting a new game.

Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE and...

4. Open the Task Manager.
Find "Deus Ex 2 Visibly Upgraded (32 bit)" under the Processes "Apps" section
It will probably say "Not responding"

Right click that selection and hit "Go to details" [Image 2]

In the next screen you will see 1 or 2 instances of "DeusEx2.exe"

Right click the one that says "Not responding" and select "Analyze wait chain". [Image 3]

This should detail the program(s) that are conflicting with Invisible War and preventing it from loading correctly. [Image 4]

Take note of the exact .exe name that is causing the problem.

When I looked at the .exe in the wait chain , mine was "nvcontainer.exe" (IF YOU HAVE THE GEFORCE EXPERIENCE THIS INVOLVES THE IN GAME OVERLAY)
I disabled the Nvidia overlay in Geforce Experience and it started working.
To do this go to Settings > General > On the left side third box down you should see the "In-Game Overlay" switch.
When I turned this off, it started working for me.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I DID AND IT WORKED FOR ME UNFORTUNATELY THIS METHOD WILL ONLY WORK FOR ANYONE WITH THE GEFORCE EXPERIENCE PROGRAM LIKE ME ANY OTHER OPTIONS I CANT HELP BUT THOSE WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS ME I HOPE THIS HELPS

for the GOG link above to see where i got the geforce experience fix check the first comment at the bottom of that page by djdarko

VERY IMPORTANT INFO DOWN BELOW HERE

note one more thing the game will sometimes crash when it loads

to fix this just go to task manager and find any processes with the deus ex name and click at the bottom right corner end task and start up again i had to do this whenever it crashed while loading

so make sure you save before entering buildings or any type of instance that can give you a loading screen

TO ENTER TASK MANAGER IF THE GAME CRASHES WHILE LOADING PRESS CRTL+ALT+DELETE then you should see the task manager option
