Skeleton Starts

I wanted a skeleton start that can help you get a skeleton only playthrough off the ground.
As in vanilla Kenshi, you are looking at hours of hours of playtime to get maybe 4 or 5 skelebros together.
So I came up with these three starts.

This started out as a personal mod I never intended to release, but it soon grew into something I was proud of and wanted to share.

Overview:

The Rusty Raider starts follow the eponymous "Rust", a skeleton with aspirations of becoming a powerful bandit king.
The story starts after a bank robbery in Trader's Guild territory.
Depending on which version you choose determines the outcome of the bank job.
In crew, it was a success and you start with the spoils.
In solo, it was a failure and only Rust himself got out alive.

And Stobe's Chosen was just a separate little challenge I cooked up for anyone daring enough to try.

The Rusty Raiders (Crew)

"Rust and his crew have just returned from successfully robbing a Trader's Guild bank. After laying low in Black Desert City for a spell, the crew has stocked up on supplies and are ready to start building their stronghold."

In Crew you start with:
  • Squad of 12 skeletons
  • 1 unique security spider
  • 25000 cats
  • a large bounty
  • The blueprints and materials to take a base straight to tech level 3.
The rusty raiders also get access to a couple of unique buildings. (Swamp dome, Swamp tower, metal wallhouse and a throne)

This start was designed with the intention of skipping the first 100hrs of a skeleton only playthrough and get straight to building up your skeleton faction. Due to this, the start is very easy and could be considered a cheat start, but I have tried my best to balance it to still be somewhat of a challenge.

The Rusty Raider (solo)

"Rust lost his entire crew during a bank heist gone wrong. He managed to get away and hide in Black Desert City, but the skeletons he called family were turned into scrap. What he plans on doing next is anyone's call."

In solo, you play as Rust but without the crew and all the bonus money/mats.
You still have decent armour, weapons, 1500 cats, and a smaller bounty.
This is a more traditional Kenshi start.

Stobe's Chosen

"You were nearly turned into scrap metal at the site of a large battle in Stobe's Garden. Broken, beaten and left to rust in the sun. You would have resigned to your fate, but the remains of Stobe spurred you on to survive both mentally and physically. You managed to scrape together an arm from parts of his remains and live to fight another day. Perhaps Stobe has looked kindly upon you? or perhaps it's just dumb luck! The one thing that is certain; you're not out of the garden yet."

An extra challenging start for a skeleton. Very similar to the world famous torso start, with a few key differences.
  • You are a skeleton, so you won't starve before reaching your first town.
  • You are alone, so no recruits to just carry you to town.
  • You start in Stobe's garden, so your first town is even further and a more dangerous journey.
  • You start with one unique left arm, that you built from the corpse in Stobe's garden.
  • You also start with a unique sword, which, as a torso you cannot even use until you repair yourself.

other changes (possible conflicts)

This mod alters the playable tag on all skeleton subraces and adds them to the skeleton Race_group. This means you can play as any skeletype on any of the other game starts aswell.
Tested with other mods that also alters skeleton playable tag (recruitable prisoners), and it seems to be working fine together. But no garentees from mod to mod.

Possible future:
I could add unique dialogue lines to Rust, the crew and stobe's chosen. Referencing the bank job, or other unique lines. If enough people want that (formatting FCS dialogue is a monumental task).
I'm thinking of making a separate mod, with Rusty Raiders as an NPC faction that spawns in the world, with custom events, a town, base raids ect.

honestly they seem far too op
maybe the rusty raiders one can be argued for but Stobes Chosen... maype making the weapon refitted blade quality and stobes hand could have very small buffs or no buffs at all, just so the character keeping it for the rest of the playthrough is viable but not op even for late game characters, maybe changing the model to the KLR limb could be good too? since in lore theyre cheaply made yet effevtive, atleast for second empire standarts lol

Really cool work man! The Strobes Chosen start is my favorite so far.
