Bystander

Description
This mod basically adds a dummy player that won't die or attack you. Turns the game into more of a Single Player, PvE experience.

You must select at least one AI player to play as this class for this mod to affect your play session.

Inspired by a similar mod for CoE3 by Kiapha.
Ported to CoE5 (with very little effort) by pencils.

bystander gets shovel, drill, become able to move, to destroy, conquer, and yeah, fix that.

This isw my first attempt to download a mod from Steam. I'm subscribed, but I can't get the mod to show up in the mod screen. Help?

@pippin There shouldn't be anything in this mod that could cause performance issues? the only thing it can recruit is the Heavy infantry (because they start in a castle but they never get iron for them) if that's a concern you can put "limitgold -2" in its newmonster section to make sure the faction never gets any gold, or change the "hometerr 22" -> "hometerr 20" to change their starting location to a tower, but alot more monsters would walk into them i pretty sure most avoid castles but not towers. (the mod folder is in steam\steamapps\workshop\content) then just search bystander and it'll pull up the .c5m file which can just be opened in notepad)

turns take progressively longer because each and every plane (especially void and hades) has more and more random spawns that join in and have their movements every turn, adding a few bystanders in a game often even makes many die randomly walking into them.

Tried this out, no other mods active, and it causes issues.
Me and a friend playing with it on for Co-op, whenever I enter the realm map for Elysium I get FPS/response issues, year 15-ish he starts lagging. This is not normal, my computer is a potato, but, this has always been a series that I never had issues with due to how low intensity it is.

Tested it solo, after 5-10 years the load time for AI movement starts taking longer.
Year 15 it's causing the game to freeze on turn-load screen, then continue after a few seconds.
Year 20, the wait time is about 20-30 seconds.

Not sure exactly what's causing it, but maybe tweaking things like, give them negative Gold income, say, so they skip over all possible recruitment of anything because 0 gold, since the AI looks at all options it thinks it should have by then, until it gets something or it doesn't, based on how far into the game it is.
Or make a 1 hp mobile secondary commander, so it can, and then cannot travel so stops trying.

Just had the bystander faction spawn in as different units. To test it, I started a game with just me, and a Bystander faction. Turn ten, the "bystander" faction showed up at my front door. Something happened mid-game that turned them to a Troll King faction. This can't be a save file corruption, as I haven't loaded the game, or even saved it. The army, on the weakest difficulty, showed up at my base with Gramps and Mom on, once again, turn ten.

@relmz: Units transforming into other units is a symptom of save file corruption. Between updates to the base game and to the mods you have installed, something changed between when the save was made and the current version that upset the unit index ordering, resulting in unpredictable chaos. This mod hasn't been updated since June, and is probably not the culprit.

Regardless, there is no fix. You probably need to start a new game.

I am seeing the same issue where re-loading a game is causing the bystanders to transform into other units.

I think it might be connected to Dynamic Elysium.
