Atlantis MK II - Reforged Eden

Description
Built for Reforeged Eden!

Type: Mobile Base/Oversized Transport
Tier 4, 2.100.000 CPU
Size Class: 15 (15,50)
Unlock Level: 25

Length 346m

The Atlantis is a transport designed to move fleets of CVs throughout the galaxy while also serving as a Base of Operations. It only has light armaments and next to no armor.

Besides production and hydroponics the main point of the ship is the large internal hangar for multiple HVs/CVs and the external Landing Strips for CVs. To dock and transport all your ships that you never use but still dont want to miss anyways.

Smaller CVs may also fit in the main hangar.

CV Runways on the outside are between 120m and 150m. Longer CVs can of course dock, if you dont mind them reaching over the End of the marked areas. Runways are placed on each side, which may cause some nausea for the crews of side/bottom docked CVs. (Eleon please give area-Sliders for gravity generators!)

The MK II Version is a massively refactored Version of my original Atlantis, with the goal of cutting the size class down to 15. The original has a size class of 34. The reduction comes with a hefty limit on how many lights and details I can use, which again required to rebuild the complete Interior and large parts of the Hull. The dimensions however still are quite similar, the somewhat shorter length can be attributed to the slightly shorter main Engines. The bigger central Hangar space is also due to this limitation, Landing pads are the easiest case for size class by a wide margin.

Getting a ship of this size this low, basically sets a Limit on everything that can be done detail-wise. So while I still have a lot of ideas for details and interiors and would love to provide a more refined lighting, I think I have reached the limit of what I can achieve with the ship for the target size class.

I also had to get rid of most of the Piping, which felt way too much like some form of Heresy.

LCDs are modifications from sulusdacors LCD Library, so a big thanks to him for his amazing work!

Probably bug. Try to re-add it to the factory.

Oh it can land. You need to check your weight beforehand to ensure you aren't too heavy for the Planets g-force, and if necessary upgrade the thrust. That is all. Basically the same as with any large ship.

The main issue is this is a large transport wit a lot of room. If you pack it full of stuff you need a lot of thrust to go onto planets. You also need a lot of thrust to fly full speed. Both isn't possible with the CPU available at C9, so I had to decide whether I wanted it to be able to fly full speed or wanted it to be able to land.

I went with the speed and left room to upgrade the lift thrust, should one want to invest Aux. Cores.

That said this is a rather old build, I am not sure how well it is optimised under the current patch. I think the thrusters got buffed at some point, so the lift might not be an issue anymore. Maybe still is though.

So basically the ship is not meant for landing..

Same as with the older Atlantis, when you want to go on planets you have to upgrade the thrust first. Or limit yourself to low-g planets and moons.

The work is not worth it. The ship lacks thrust. He doesn't leave the ground. Tested on net weight. Engines that do not pull from below.

Great work on this one, love that you've also built CVs to fit inside of it. I did have to remove a scanner from this though as there were two of them.

Awesome ship.
