If they are using a dark/purple hull then you can almost literally tuck absolutely anywhere--including right by the cannons!

barrel tucks on ships are pretty uneffective sinds the berrel emote is not stabalized on the ship so it will be shacking with the waves. if the ship has a lot of loot it can be effective to tuck in the loot.

In my experience the barrel tuck under the stairs and the mast tuck are most effective. The sloop is small and most people will notice an out of place barrel anywhere else on the ship unless they are very new players - in which case maybe take a little pity on them and don't troll them too hard!
