FFX's Green Screens Fix for Desperate People

This little guide aims to provide a final solution to desperate people that tried everything from Windows parameters to NVIDIA ones and still experienced Green Screens (like I did).

Information

4GB Patch is a useful tool that will grant your game the possibility to rely on 4GB of VRAM instead of 2.
As I have browsed many forums in order to fix this problem, many people seemed to think it was some kind of memory shortage, leak or something along those lines so I decided to try this software. If you experience any similar issues with old games that require 2GB of VRAM, I suggest you to apply this patch as well, it will improve the game's performances and make it more stable overall especially if you decide to use mods.

Software download

1. Download 4GB PATCH[ntcore.com]
2. Extract the .exe
3. Execute the program

Patching the Game

1. When executing the software, this window will pop-up. 2. Navigate to the game's location. (Usually C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY FFX&FFX-2 HD Remaster)
3. Select FFX.exe and execute
4. Voila!

Just tried this out since nothing else was working for the green screen issue. Worked like a charm and all the cutscenes are playing perfectly. Kudos!

This worked for FFX after application, however it didn't for FFX-2. The resulting 'fix' was to end the programme and then start it up again. Looking at this, along with just how weird missing textures can be and silent crashes to desktop, both of which are more prevalent in FFX-2 by far, it's pretty clear that there's an issue with how the game handles memory.

I've experienced many crashes to desktop in FFX-2 and maybe 2 in FFX. With FFX-2 being more demanding compared to FFX...yeah, it's a memory issue related to how the game uses memory and this patch won't always address it. The patch makes the game actually playable, so I definitely recommend it in order to play the game.
