Having the Right Mindset for Rocket League
By Auto
There a various ways to play rocket league but today I will show you the mindsets that will allow you to either grow in rocket league or stay stagnant.

The 1st way is to have the calm and steady mindset. This involves you to make a commitment to disabling chat because I can assure you that unless your a monk it will destroy your calmity.

The 2nd way is to have the toxic mindset. I know it may sound bad but it can help because there are a lot of snowflakes in the world who get hurt over the smallest things. The counter to this type of mindset is to ignore the toxic player, trust me you wont win especially against international players who be dripping sauce on you in their language.

The 3rd way is to have the boosted gear mindset. In this type of mindset you have to be prepared to through some cash at your problems mostly because you suck but also because you want the season rewards(or title). This mindset will ultimately not lead you anywhere useful because it wont make you better.

The 4th way is to have the real life athlete mindset. Basically do everything a real athlete would do. Real athletes hire a coach and get on that grind. basically you get coach for 2/5 of your available time for playing rocket league and the rest of the time should be used on what your coach indicated and also grinding all the small details because there is plenty of mechanics to grind.

The 5th way is to have the squishy mindset. Basically just do free-play and become a social outcast to everyone else. in case you have good internet just pretend it isn't working. Just grind on free-play so that one day you'll become the next muffinz boy.
(p.s this ISN'T my preferred way to play)

The 6th way is to play like a try-hard. You have to be able to get on those rlcs x streams and sub to all the rocket league YouTube channels that you can find( don't sub to trash YouTubers because they wont teach they just flex on you) I personally am a trader - look at my bio- but I wont deny that I have used the stoctane with black diecis but if you ever go full try-hard mode then your going to do everything a try-hard does.

The 7th way is to have a open mindset( THIS IS MY PREFERRED MINDSET) For me this mindset means you are willing to put in hours in the game to become better. I know pro players say do training and training packs but for me I just cant because I cant focus when it just me and the ball. I personally like taking challenges head on, so that's why I just solo que and play like a beast. There are players out there that wont be good but that just means that you have to become better at the game so you can carry them(don't worry about them because eventually they wont be able to keep up). I do all sorts of things for example the first time that I tried a speed-flip I could learn all the right keys to press. My first step was to learn the flip cancel technique- take into account a lot of my training for the speed-flip was done in 1v1. When I first learned it I went from close to plat 1 all the way to b3, Because I just couldn't figure how to do it consistently. I tried for so many games and eventually I say a really obscure video about someone doing it on a YouTube video. There are tons and tons of YouTube videos on how to do the speed-flip but the problem is that if you play on keyboard then your pretty much on your own for figuring out complicated mechanics. I eventually learned how to do it properly because I wasn't using the dedicated air roll keys. My speed-flip isn't 100% consistent all the time but I still train it like crazy. Every single solitary match I use it and use it, my left side isn't very consistent as my right but no matter what I grind it and grind it. My next point is on mechanics, I personally don't find that grinding flashy mechanics is useful. because double flip resetting and air dribbling sounds nice but in reality it wont be good because you'll forget the fundamentals. High level players have developed and used this techniques because they are at the peak of rl play meaning that they just have to perfect this mechanics. For example and flip reset will waste your time as a gold because you will be able to flip reset on people who cant guard it, this sounds good but then you realize the you cant half flip or even hit the ball with power. the perfect way is to train the fundamentals. Around diamond depending on your consistency you should think about learning all sorts of mechanics. By champion you should know all of them- you wont be consistent on any them but you'll know how to perform them in theory. The mechanics I think are the most useful are as follows:

-Halflips- this is a BIG MUST even if they are scuffed
-Hitting the ball with power- also learning to modulate your power
-Having a solid defense- this is so underrated
-Wave dashing- useful in recoveries
-Recoveries- don't be the person stuck in the goalpost flipping and hitting the walls
-Off the wall aerials- this is mechanics that is must also a fundamental one
- Aerial control- this mechanic will be your best buddy through out your rl career
-Using power-slide efficiently- not just clicking it but learning to use it to dribble, turn to hit the ball, hook-shots and recoveries
-Dribbling- this is must in whatever rank you are because it makes you be one with the ball and will be useful for flicks in the future
-Flicks- You should try learning the 3 basic ones once you have good dribble control, later on you can try to do super advance flicks like the reverse musty turtle flip which is of no use learning when your in plat or gold for example because players this low will just ram into you before you can set up a good complicated flick
-Conserving boost- this isn't a must when your a low rank but as your increase in ranks you'll start to notice that air dribbling and making solo plays take a lot of boost
-Learn the layout of the field so that you can learn how to get boost pads from the field- I remembered when I started implementing this into my game sense and I was so happy I did because suddenly I felt faster even tho I know that rl cars only go to a certain max speed.
-Finally this a very important mechanic to learn, it doesn't take long it basically gives you "free" speed---- its---- The INFINY DASH
you might say but didn't you say that you should focus on fundamentals. I did say that BUT I never said that you couldn't learn anything else.
>>>>I want you to picture this scenario lets say that you don't have boost and both of you are trying to recover after bumping each other and lets say you both suck because your gold and wasted all your boost. In this scenario if you by some miracle practiced the infinidash then you can wave-dash off the goalpost and get back to the ball to save it but If you don't then the universe will conspire against you and you'll most certainly lose.
P.S I know the infinidash only refers to the wall dash version but its also possible to learn it on the ground
