The key to mastering blaster is the input down-light attack, dash jump, recovery.
A few things to note is that this combination of inputs is often abbreviated as 'down light recovery' or as 'dlight recovery' remember that down light and dlight mean down-light attack. This combination of inputs is a true and when done properly cannot be dodged. A TRUE combination of inputs means that it has no dodge windows. Dodge windows can only be turned on in training room. To turn on dodge windows you will have to press tab on keyboard or the menu button on controller. By pressing tab or the menu button on controller you will open up a menu that will have a few options you can turn on or off. I recommend only having stun on and the rest of the options off. But before entering the training room you MUST select a BLASTERS LEGEND . A BLASTERS LEGEND is a LEGEND who has access to the WEAPON BLASTERS in the normal game modes as in FREE-FOR-ALL, STRIKE OUT, EXPERIMENTAL, and RANKED . One you have selected you're blasters legend you will want to then select your map. Choose a flat map without platforms, this includes: BRAWLHAVEN, SHIPWRECK FALLS, and DEMON ISLAND . This combination of inputs is possible on other maps but for the sake of practice it is best to practice without platforms as they suck and provide nothing of substance to the game. This combination of inputs can be pretty tricky for beginner so I will be very thorough when covering each individual input. Do not be discouraged if it takes you a few tries to get consistent at this series of inputs. Note before following this guide you should have the training dummy set to reset damage and reset position. To turn on reset damage and reset position you will have to press tab on keyboard or the menu button on controller. By pressing tab or the menu button on controller you will open up a menu that will have a few options you can turn on or off. Navigated to the second menu by pressing right and then go to the bottom where it says 'reset damage' and 'reset position' you must also change the bots damage from 0 to at least 100 for this to be consistent.

Here is an example of the combo being preformed: https://youtu.be/sSHAibNEg0Y

Now I don't want to waste your time so I will be getting on with the rest of the guide.

PART ONE
Your first course of action when inputting down light attack recovery is the input DOWN . Check your key bind if you are not sure which button is your input DOWN . The key bind menu can be accessed by pressing 'Esc' on keyboard or the start button on controller and going down to the 'controls' tab and read your control scheme (note you may also change the keys if you so wish to most buttons on your keyboard/controller). If you are using a non traditional input method such as vJoy or something else I would check there for your key bind for the DOWN input. Now that you have the down input your next input is the LIGHT ATTACK input. Please note that in order to get the DOWN LIGHT ATTACK input you must be holding down before and during the attack input. In the case that you are not inputting DOWN on your controller and proceed to input light attack you will not get a DOWN LIGHT ATTACK but instead a different LIGHT ATTACK such as NEUTRAL LIGHT ATTACK or SIDE LIGHT ATTACK . The combination of inputs DOWN LIGHT ATTACK RECOVERY is NOT possible by inputting a SIDE LIGHT ATTACK or a NEUTRAL LIGHT ATTACK in place of DOWN LIGHT ATTACK . After you have input down then proceed with the input light attack you will have the first part to the combination of inputs dlight recovery. Now comes the tricky part. The recovery can only hit after inputting a DASH JUMP before the recovery. when most people input DASH JUMP they will input SIDE, DODGE, then JUMP in that order to get a DASH JUMP . When you press SIDE , then DODGE , after having hit an opponent you will get CHASE DODGE . CHASE DODGE is a useful mechanic but in this scenario you will NOT want to chase dodge. To avoid the CHASE DODGE input your want to keep inputting down by HOLDING your down input after letting go of your light attack button. Keep holding down your DOWN input and then input DODGE . If you have completed this series of inputs correctly you will get a DASH after hitting the opponent. Dash is only %50 of a DASH JUMP however. Afterwards you are going to need to press the JUMP input after having input DASH . Locate you jump input and press it down AFTER your dash input. Practice this series of inputs and get consistent at them. Now we are approaching the second half of the input DOWN LIGHT ATTACK RECOVERY .

PART TWO
Congrats on making it this far. You should be consistent at the DOWN LIGHT ATTACK and DASH JUMP by now and ready for the second and final part at becoming as good as Boomie and Cody Travis. This is a very important combination of inputs to the blasters kit and hope that you too realize its importance in the blasters kit. This combination of inputs is also known as a KILL CONFIRM because has been confirmed to have killed very many people. Because of how good the combination of inputs dlight recovery is as killing it have become a staple to the blasters kit and a must learn that is why I must be so thorough when covering this combination of inputs. Also I will tell you that you should not use the term 'Combination of inputs' as it will get you weird looks so instead use the word 'combo'. I use the term 'Combination of inputs' to be thorough with my guide. On with the second part of this combination of inputs. after you input your DOWN LIGHT ATTACK and your DASH JUMP depending on your controls you will either want to release all directional keys after inputting DASH JUMP or release the input DOWN and switch to your SIDE input to input the recovery. Pressing no direction and heavy attack will result in a recovery attack, as will inputting side and heavy attack. Check your key bind for heavy attack to make sure you are pressing the HEAVY ATTACK key. I recommend releasing all keys and pressing heavy attack for anyone using arrow keys and wasd and pressing side on controller. If you are using a non traditional input method you must experiment an find what is most comfortable for you. Note if you are using the side input method let go of side very quickly so that you do not drift your recovery too far end end up moving away from your opponent. Practice this input until you can get it true 10/10 times consistently.

I hope this guide was thorough enough for you if you have any questions do not be afraid to inbox me or post them in the comments. After practicing this enough you should be as good as Boomie and Cody Travis... or Pavelski if you care about him... or any brawlhalla pro who uses blasters. thanks for your time reading my guide.

It is through great effort I hope that this guide may reach many others and help them understand the importance of this killing combo. I should also mention the difficulty that is perceived around this combo that is down light attack, dash jump, recovery. Many new and experienced players who have not attempted this combination of attacks may be confused and may be at a loss of where they had gone wrong for this combination of inputs to be escapable when in reality this series of inputs and attacks when done correctly is an inescapable true combo. I do not wish to leave those who are attempting this combo to be confused. Confusion can lead to frustration and frustration may lead to violence so I wish to deescalate any issues that may arise from this combination of inputs as seamlessly and thoroughly as possible. Everyone should have access to a kill confirm like this because of how I previously stated is oh-so important to becoming better at brawlhalla.

I feel it insults the game to act like "you must do more damage to win" because that is not the case. I and many others have lost games where we have done more damage and still lost the game and visa versa. It is not the damage that allows the player to win but the ability to take stocks. If you take your opponents 3 stocks before they take your 3 stocks you will win the game. It seems so obvious but you have to look at it with extreme scrutiny as you may over look some minor flaws. Saying "do more damage" ignores the part of spacing, neutral, hitting combos, strings, weapon starving, weapon throws, edge-guarding, inputs, recovering, stage control, mindset, clutch situations, performing under pressure. When you ignore such important details you set yourself up for failure. I will not ignore each minor flaw and instead put it under a magnifying glass to make them even bigger and to analyse more meticulously.

@Wormhole, Brawlhalla is a big deal. You have to understand that there is a 1million dollar esports prize pool this year and thats going to make the game very competitive. Boomie and Cody Travis are 2 extraordinary players who are among the greatest the game has ever seen. When you take a highly competitive game and say you have the secret to becoming as good as some of the best players to have touched this game you must be thorough. And thorough I have been. This guide exposes one of the key secrets to being able to win in Brawlhalla and that is killing. If you take more stocks than your opponent you win. It is this ability to take stocks that has made Boomie and Cody Travis so good. Taking stocks is such an important thing to this game and it cannot be a topic touched on lightly. 1/3
