[The Witcher 3] A Guide To Romance

If you have played The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, you know that Triss Merigold is Geralt's love interest. However, in the books Yennefer of Vengerberg is his love interest. In The Witcher 3, the player gets to choose who to romance. You might already know who you want to romance, but don't know how to. This guide will explain which choices you need to make in order to get the romance you want.

How To Romance Triss

There are a few things you need to do in order to romance Triss.
During "Now or Never", make the following conversation choices:

To Sigimund (before the Witch Hunter attack):
"Stay out of other people's affairs."

To Triss (As she's about to board the ship):
"Stay with me"
"I love you"

Agree to listen to Sigimund's love story.
Triss will be revealed to have stayed on the docks, interrupting the tale.

After this, you will get a romance scene with Triss. To stay with her, don't try to flirt with Yennefer later in the game.
 

How To Romance Yennefer

In order to romance Yennefer, there are also a few things you need to do. However, this time you have to make the right choices twice as she has two romance scenes.

First, make sure you didn't romance Triss earlier in the game.

During "The King Is Dead - Long Live The King", tell Yennefer you want to kiss her as the room fills with gas. After that, tell her that you wouldn't mind watching her change.
This will lead to a romance scene with Yennefer.

After you have had your first romance scene with Yennefer, during "The Last Wish", tell her that you still love her. Later, during "No Place Like Home", agree to speak to her in private. This will trigger her second romance scene.
 

How To Romance Neither

If you get the romance scene with Triss and both romance scenes with Yennefer, you are going to get another "romance" scene with both of them. This is the worst outcome in the romance part of the game, but it is what happens if you try to get both of them.
