Photo mode + Examples
By [THG] WHOLF⚡
In this guide, I will be showing you how to make perfect-looking screenshots and/or artwork.
Got an amazing view of your creations or the beautiful world of Valheim? This is the guide for you!
I will also leave down some examples in this guide on what YOU can do when using the photo mode!

Note: This only works in your OWN world. This does not work on dedicated servers or joining a friends server.

Leaving a thumbs up and clicking the 'favorite' button would be highly appreciated as a sign of support.
By doing this the guide will be shown on the Steam activity page and friends of YOU will be able to see the guide.
This helps to get more traffic and more recognition which might be interesting for other people.

Photo mode

Whether you’re sailing the open waters or running away from Trolls on the mainland, there are moments when the game stuns you with its beauty and the overall scenery and view.
Spotted a perfect place to make a screenshot of? Want to show off your creations? Then photo mode is the perfect way to take a screenshot, save it and share it with the community!

Using the photo mode in Valheim:
To access photo mode in Valheim, there’s really only one thing you need to do. At any time during your adventure, you can hit CTRL+F3 and your HUD will completely disappear.

While this isn’t a true photo mode that allows you to change the gamma, color correction, or angle of your shot, you can still take a clear screenshot. Your cursor, health, and the action bar will disappear and you can hit F12 on Steam or use a third-party application to take your shot.

Keep in mind, you need to re-hit CTRL+F3 to make your HUD return. If you don’t, no actions you take will appear on the screen. This includes accessing your build menu and inventory, so it’s wise not to access the photo mode if you’re in a dangerous situation.

What does photo mode do?
  • The ability to remove the HUD.
  • The ability to move the camera angle and fly around including noclip.
  • A way to take and save a screenshot of the game of your creations, horizon, mountains, rivers, and whatever you think would be worth taking a screenshot of.
Opening up photo mode:
Now, start up your world and begin your adventure.
Once you feel like there is moment worth taking a screenshot, do the following:
  • Open up your console by pressing F5 (Make sure to have -console as a start-up command
  • Press: CTRL+F3 to remove the HUD
  • Type in: devcommands
  • Type in: freefly
  • Close the console by pressing F5 again
And now you are successfully using photo mode.
Use WASD to move around, CTRL for going down and SPACEBAR for going up!
Now another i would like to add is a command called 'ffsmooth' which makes flying around very smoothly. Perfect for making a montage, trailers, videos and all kinds related to that. If you want a certain angle but you can't do it with the normal photo mode than i highly suggest using the command 'ffsmooth'. If you want to check out a video of a YouTuber exlaining the photo mode and how it works than check the video below.
