You can convert allies to jedis/sith not only by gaining influence, but loosing it as well.
You need to commit to one or the other, as otherwise you would be stuck and lead you nowhere.
gaining influence will push your allies towards your force side affinity (light or dark) but if you loose, it will push them towards the other (if you are dark and loose influence, they go light and vice versa)
Never seen a playthrough of light side pushing companions to dark, might just try that as I have not played this gem in a while
Otherwise, nice simplification, but remove the stuff about "cannon" and meetra as tor isnt cannon. tor can be somewhat fun at times, but it is garbage for what it did to the world building and kotor 1 and 2
Basically, you can snooker yourself quite easily with this game's influence system if you're not being careful! But this is hard for a new player if they're playing the game blind.
