How To Fix Crashing At Start Up

Telltale games have a problem with Windows 8, which makes the game unable to launch when a controller is plugged in. Although this issue has been fixed in Windows 8.1, a temporary solution is available for Windows 8 users.

Most Likely And Easiest Fix

If you start up the game for the first time or maybe even after downloading a new episode and the game starts up with a black screen for 2 seconds then crashes to the desktop without any error. The 99% likely cause is you have a controller plugged in. The same thing happens in TWD. Unplug the controller and it will start up fine, plug it back in afterwards if you wish to play with it.

Second Fix

Place a .dll file to the installation folder
Download dinput8.dll file from here.[community.pcgamingwiki.com]
Place dinput8.dll in the installation folder.

Notes
Do not forget to delete dinput8.dll from the installation folder, after upgrading to Windows 8.1 to avoid future possible problems.

To find your installation folder for the TWAU, go to your library, select and right click on TWAU and go to Properties and then Local Files and Browse Local Files. It should open a folder where you have TWAU installed, just extract the .dll file and place it in there.

This will also enable you to play the game with a controller if you were not able to before.

Fix For Mac

Ensure game path does not contain special characters
Make sure that The Wolf Among Us.app path does not contain the characters / " ! [ or \
