Welcome everyone!

This guide was made to share the tool I've made for L.A Noire in order to unlock your framerate after the latest 2021 patch. I've already written a tutorial in the discussion section of the game on how to do that manually. You can find the original thread HERE for the manual instructions. I'm going to write the Q&A of the tool here too for your convenience. Hope you guys enjoy the game, take care.

Questions and Answers

Q: How do I use this tool?
A: Open my tool. Start the game, once in the main menu, press F10 (wait a few seconds. You'll hear one beep when it starts, and a different beep once the tool is done.)

Q: Why does my AV detects this tool as potentially malicious?
A: Cheat Engine is partially incorporated in this tool and may trigger some AVs. Despite my best efforts it can't be resolved. Add it to the exceptions list of your AV

Q: Do I need Cheat Engine installed to use this?
A: You shouldn't. It should be incorporated inside the tool as previously stated.

Q: Do I need to use this tool every time I start the game?
A: Yes.

Q: Will this tool break if somehow the game gets updated again?
A: It most likely won't. The tool scans the memory of the game first and then patches the addresses. This is also why is takes a few seconds for you to see the framerate go from 30 to 60FPS.

Q: Can I get banned (VAC etc..) for using this tool?
A: There is no Anti-Cheat in L.A Noire so you're fine. As requested, my tool will now automatically close after it's done, so you don't have to worry about leaving it open.

@Crysto Please refer to the short Q&A I posted. Cheat Engine is used in my program and so, triggers AVs. It is normal for CE to be detected (it scans memory etc..) but there is nothing malicious going on. Feel free to add my tool to your AV's whitelist. Sorry for the inconvenience

Hello there,
There is no way to unlock the framerate through the config file of the game. It is hardcoded into the game itself. Cheat Engine is just one of many tools to do the job, it's just the most well known and most used. As for your error, make sure your antivirus (or Windows) did not block the file as this is what it sounds like. Thank you!

I can't even open the .exe with admin rights. "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the items." error.

so i have some skepticism the manual thread also has someone using a cheat engine of some sort to unlock the frames is there any way to go into game files to unlock frames?

My resolution is 1920x1080x120 because my screen is 120 refresh rate.

As for you Joe, yeah I'm a little bit lost on why it does that. Usually if you hear the second different beep (it's a slightly lower tone beep) it means everything worked. In your Documents\Rockstar Games\L.A. Noire, in settings.ini, make sure the last number after "Resolution" is at least 60 or higher (that's the refresh rate). Other than that yeah it's a bit hard to diagnose just like this. I'm really sorry it seems to be an odd case.

I opened your tool, then started the game, waited till the main menu showed up, then pressed f10. A beep sounded. After a while a second beep sounded, but the frame rate was still locked at 30.

Hey there Joe,
the tool pretty much does exactly what the manual instructions says. Could you tell me exactly what happens and how you use the tool? Keep in mind, I recently had a report that on slower CPU the tool may take a little bit more time to kick in and unlock the FPS. Thanks!
