I think switch axe is the best weapon

Of all the weapons, I recommend switch axe the most for hunting pretty much any monster in the game (except for hunting teostra and bazelguize. When hunting those monsters i prefer using bow)

The reasons:

- The attack and stats is pretty high!

The current switch axe i used have 910 attack (Iceborne, MR9). The average attack for switch axe is around 700 (for MHW, HR 40) and 800-900 (for Iceborne). Combine the weapon with charms/decoration and it can add up to 1000+. The weapon benefit for the hunter is less physical damage taken.

- It's not that heavy like great swords, hammer, horn.

I think swtich axe is a middle class agility weapon. It's not that agile like dual blades, but it's not that heavy either. It's still pretty easy for the hunter to evade some monster attack.

- The attack range is pretty wide.

The switch axe attack range is not that short and you don't have to be super accurate about aiming the parts of the monsters that you want to attack. In fact, you can attack multiple parts with this weapon when using the weapon technique like wild swings.

- The weapon technique options are pretty easy and useful!

It's not that long for you to get comfortable with this weapon. Get into to training room, spend about 5-10 minutes with it and i think you're good to go and enjoy the hunting experience.

For me, Clutch Claw does make the weapon more enjoyable. But I've been using switch axe even before Iceborne and clutch claw came out, and i enjoy using it so much. In the end, I think it's because I am used to the weapon so i can get comfortable when hunting using switch axe ;)

For now i don't have any feature that i don't like about this weapon yet. You can go crazy when hunting with it (especially if you hunt solo). But there's one thing to be aware of! When i use switch axe on multiplayer, sometimes I kinda send the other player flying when striking my attack. A lot of times it's not intentional, but just be careful because the other party may not like it. But you can create a combo with it too! You can send the other player flying so they can mount the monster. You should coordinate to do the combo though.

I started using Switch Axe, and I immediately switched to Great Sword.

I settled on Switch Axe as my favorite before I even discovered Element Discharge was an option, and I'm not regretting it. It's got a nice combination of damage and attack speed, while still being straightforward to use (unlike Insect Glaive or Charge Blade, imo). I'm only about intermediate with it, but I definitely think it's the best weapon for me.
Might consider expanding to Longsword or Dual Blades later, but Longsword is definitely higher skill-floor (more combos), and the high-speed patterns of dual blades don't quite mesh with me. I've tried other weapons, but they're either slow or unwieldy, so that'll have to wait a while.

I do like to say that you cannot say switch axe is the best weapon LOL because lets be real best weapon is HBG with shield and spread shot cuz that does the most dps and it is tested and it is the easiest weapon to use. But MHW is all about using the weapon that feels the best for you. There is no rank because the weapons are personalized for you and for your comfort. This should have been Switch axe is the best weapon for me. like someone said no one cares LOL switch axe is a good weapon but it is not the best weapon, best weapon for you but to some it is not. You def can recommend which you did but the best way is for people to try out all different weapons and get comfy with using them.

great weapon in iceborne especially with the clutch claw zsd spam playstyle. It deals so much damage that it trivializes the combat. Ramp up sword then spam zsd on monster head.

um, akshually, attack values displayed on the weapon are bloated, and most weapons from the same stage of the game will still have the same true raw. no one cares though, and switch axe is still a good weapon
