Prohibitive Unit Gold Costs

描述
Drastically increases the cost in gold of purchasing combat units. Disables the Holy Warrior and Religious Fervor beliefs. The total effect is that all players are forced to build thier units as a general rule instead of buying them. The only exception is the Landsneckt unit and the Foriegn Legion unit. I did not disturb the normal game-mechanic for acquiring these units.

You should only subscribe and use this mod if you are looking for a different play experience without needing to run a total conversion mod.

Scouts, Warriors, and Archers are not alterred so that in the early game where you generally are struggling to get enough units to fight off barbarians and to explore your surroundings you can still buy units without bankrupting yourself.

The next level-up of units (Spearmen and the like) are twice as expensive to buy with gold as normal.

Longswordsmen, Knights, Crossbowmen, Trebuchet, etc., and all later units are three times as expensive as normal to buy with gold.

Navy Comabat units and Air units are all three times as expensive to buy with gold.

The two futuristic late-game units are even more expensive to buy with gold.

The screen capture images are meant to show the comparison between buying a pikeman with gold and the cost to build one. The build cost is no different than normal. Even though a faithcost shows up on the pikeman screen capture it has no effect anywhere since the mod removes all instances of beliefs being set to allow unit purchases with faith.

Feedback is welcome, especiallt regarding the removal of the Holy Warriors and Religious Fervor beliefs. I'm not entirely convinced this was the best way to go, but it seems to accomplish what I was looking for, at least in the games where I've been using this set of rules.

Also, if you are using the Mercenary Army Expanded mod, this mod should not conflict with it.

"two futuristic lategame units"

*glances at GDR and XCOM squad*

Nah, couldn't be them. They were so innocuous and underpowered.

Spaceman, I don't play with City States. THEY TAKE UP VALUABLE SPACE THAT CAN BE USED FOR MY TINY LITTLE EMPIRE.

@Teeb07
Only the combat units. Spaceship parts, civilian units, and the three early units are not affected.
Teeb07 2014 年 5 月 20 日 上午 9:01
Does this affect the freedom :SocialPolicy: that lets you buy spaceship parts?

Hawkpath's right. If you're not like the AI as far as economy goes, it's relatively easy to go on shopping sprees. Many times I've had all allies as city-states, and made colonies where I bought a factory and hospital to speed up its growth.

Tolaburke, I beg to differ. In my experience, I buy things... a lot. I've done Building Shopping Sprees, for crying out loud.

Not bad, but pointless. Unit and building costs are ALREADY prohibitive enough that you can't spare to buy more than one or two units/buildings in a full game.

nice. Now those landsknecht are actually a viable option.
