KOTOR on problematic 1366x768 or Flawless Widescreen magical launch scheme.

After many hours of trying to launch this wonderful game in my native resolution I have finally found a "method" get the program "Flawless Widescreen" to work on my laptop. None of the methods or other programs suggested by the community have worked for me. I write this now to spare some player future pain.

Part 1 - Preparing the ground.

Some of the steps WILL look as an absolute absurd, but you need to do all the steps to get it working(probably).

If you are advanced pc user than you can skip many steps by ini writing but its on you.

1)Install clean Kotor
2)Go to the kotor directory (X:\.......\Steam\steamapps\common\swkotor)
3)launch swconfig.exe
4)Set the resolution that fits your native resolution height(I have 1366x768 so i need to chose 1024x768)
5)Turn on V-Sync
6)Make sure that Hardware Mouse box is enabled(usually it is by default)
7)Press save and close
8)Launch the game via kotor.exe in the directory folder.
9)Go to Settings - Graphics - Screen resolution- change to any other resolution then back on 1024x768(or another that fits your native resolution height). Your screen should turn black each time that you switch resolution.(so twice because you change it twice)
10)Exit the game.

If some steps disgarted, it might cause headache later.

Part 2 - Downloads

To install future plug-in you need unlocked exe file

1)Go to https://gamecopyworld.eu/games/pc_sw_knights_of_the_old_republic.shtml#Knights%20of%20the%20Old%20Republic%20v1.03%20[ENGLISH Sorry for the ads not my fault

2)Download Knights of the Old Republic v1.03 [ENGLISH] Fixed EXE
3)Open fdx-sk13.rar
4)Drag kotor.exe into directory, click replace.
5)Launch new kotor.exe to make sure it works fine(it must)

Now you need "Flawless Widescreen"

6)Go and download https://www.flawlesswidescreen.org
7)install it anywhere you want and launch the program
8)in the program find kotor and click on it. You shall see installation of the plugin into exe file.

This is where fun begins

Do not close the program

9)Launch your kotor.exe in directory(via steam crashes time to time for me,dont know why)
10)Click settings - graphics-resolution: Here you will see multiple 1024x768(or yours), change between them 2 times(im pretty sure thats for the program script but thats not a fact)
11)Exit the game and launch it again
12)Click settings - graphics-resolution: Now you should have lots of resolutions including your native screen resolution. If not repeat steps 9-12 (Yes, I'm serious)

It works for me on second-third launch every time.

Save Games Corruption Problem

Sometimes when game crashes or not properly closed it corrupts all save games.

Safety precautions:
-After a crash copy your saves only then launch the game and fix your resolution back to screen native
-After finishing playing copy your save files just it case if next launch will be in invalid resolution

Off course you can disregard those precautions, but I've learned hard way not to..

@Subdown, Check box "Generate HUD + Backgrounds";"Enable All Resolutions" in the plugin menu (other boxes are optional but i have them checked. Custom movie resolution must be set your resolution(i had it by automatic). Program settings such as display detection are done automatically by the program.

i found that it is easiest just to play in windowed on the highest resolution offered or on a laptop which worked for me without a problem

@Lucifer17761945 Hi! Try to launch via .exe in game fouler than/or steam.
You can also try to reinstall script in FW by right click on the game in the program menu than hit "re-install". Usually its Fw just cant hook exe resolution thats why you have to restart and change resolution so skript can insert 1366 instead of 1024
I have windows 10 up to date and I have finished the game in my resolution.

This worked literally until I restarted my PC. It refuses no matter what to offer the resolutions again. Its simply not compatible with modern builds of windows 10.

Glad someone finally has a "fix" for this. I used to have this res, not anymore thankfully. Glad to see others that had the same struggles as me finally have an answer!

@bkaigustus2002 if you are having touble with chrome blocking it then go to downloads in chrome and it will give you the option to keep the file

Just checked and link is fine. Make sure you are pressing the button on the left from "File Archive". If mirror 1 doesn't work try another mirrors.
