Mission Mighty Mississippi

Description
The story
Louisiana, at the mouth of the Mississippi river. Nearly one third of all cotton produced in the United States is handled in New Orleans. The city is hosting a World's Fair to celebrate 100 years of cotton export. Cooperate and compete with existing companies to get people and cargo to the exposition. Get concessions to operate in Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana and Illinois. And become the biggest transport company from New Orleans to Chicago!

The mission
This completely new mission is part of the Inventors & Adventurers campaign.
  • Very large 1:5 map covering the area along the Mississippi river between New Orleans and Chicago, including big cities like Memphis and Saint Louis.
  • The region is divided into 8 states: Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana and Illinois.
  • In order to operate in a state you need to get the concession first, which you can buy at the local government building. The price depends on the total number of inhabitants in that particular state. After acquiring the concession, you will get a task from the government to fulfill.
  • An AI player operates riverboats on the Mississippi river and a railroad between New Orleans and Chicago. You can cooperate or compete with this company, but eventually your goal is to become the biggest (and only) transport company in the region.
  • This part of the United States hosted three World's Fairs in twenty years. You have to help construct it, and make sure they become successful.
  • As this region is the birthplace of Jazz and Blues music, all default tracks were replaced by songs in these genres. All copyright free, except: 'Look busy' and 'Matt's Blues' by Kevin MacLeod Look Busy van Kevin MacLeod (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0-license[creativecommons.org])
  • A World's Fair industry, including an administration building and exposition halls.
  • Typical plantation house 3D building, made by me.
  • State capitol building
  • Many new cargo types: cigars, tobacco, sugarcane, corn, fish, cotton, clothes, milk, meat, rice, grapes, white wine, peanuts, and sweet potatoes.
  • Cotton and tobacco fields with visible plants
  • New animal asset: Alligators
  • It plays around 1885-1905.

The author
I like to make Transport Fever maps that tell a story. I do research, make scripts and build new models specifically for a map. By combining all this, I try to give the map a certain typical feel. I am therefore not interested in releasing parts of these mods separately: I feel that the parts are stronger together.

It took me months to build this campaign and it wasn't free; I paid to add certain objects to the game. If you like this campaign and want to see more mods like this in the future, please consider supporting me via [www.paypal.com]. Thanks a lot!

Note: The campaign aims to portray key milestones in the history of transportation as vividly as possible in their historical context. They also deal with dark chapters in the world's events, whereby the corresponding episodes are never supposed to be downplayed, and the victims within them never ridiculed. After all, it shouldn't be left by the wayside that the history of transportation was often and still is a story of conflicts, oppression, and sometimes great suffering. Accordingly, the value judgements conveyed in the individual missions do not reflect the developer's own values.

@Maufla little tip: boats are too slow and passengers inside Chicago do not count, just build 1 or 2 train lines to the handful of nearest towns and they should bring in the passengers just in time even when the lines are built after the mission becomes available

Can you post the map for the mission by itself?

13:43 during video in the slider above.....Priceless!
We don't have electric trams available until 1893...good luck carrying 100 passengers by 1886 if you can't even buy the trolley needed. Does Mats even play his own campaigns? Really how do you miss this? This epic campaign mission is a failure right from 1886.

@维萨卡: Thanks for figuring it out. I fixed it. :)

@Dubu_is_Maltepoo I had the same issue. I tried to fix it myself and found it is because the message box is too small to show the buy button. It should be located one blank line from the text and is outside of the box.
To fix it, you should go to your steam folder, under steam/steamapps/workshop/content/1066780/2457078048/res/config/game_script/states.lua, change line 95 from "size3.h = 350" to "size3.h=400" and line 98 from "size4.h=350" to "size4.h=400", then when you have enough money in the game you will be able to buy them.
@Mats Hi author I do not know why the gui is unproper.
