A huge abandoned Mall that was left to rot for 40 years is yours to explore.
This map is extremely detailed and realistic, features alot of decay and debris.
The entire Mall is rotten, some parts are completely destroyed, most of the second floor of the Mall is collapsed.
The Mall has extensive water damage, and a mold problem.

-------History----------

Built in 1967 the Dixie-Five Mall originally housed over 30 separate retailers including 3 anchor stores (JC Penny, Montgomery Ward and Sears)
The Dixie-Five Mall was famous for the many unique concerts it held in it's "A Wing" foyer.

The Mall started falling upon hard times in 1976, only 10 years after opening. It struggled to keep it's primary anchor tenants, and after a year of tense negotiations, Montgomery Ward left the Mall in 1977. Shortly following, Sears left the Mall in 1978.

During the Winter of 1978, the Mall's owner Mr. J. P. Canary, was found deceased in his office.
By this time, more than half of the smaller vendors inside the Mall terminated their leases and started liquidating.

In spring of 1979, Floyd Buelleur (former assistant-manager) took over full management of the Mall and invested heavily in renovations with the hopes of giving the Mall a refreshed layout, and with the aim of pulling in new anchor store tenants and new vendors.

During the summer of 1979 the Mall fell started racking up serious debt. The renovations were more costly than expected as the location of the former Sears was found to have structural damage to its second floor.
Further refurbishment of the Mall came to a halt.

1979 also saw 5 more vendors leave the Mall with no warning. At this point the Mall only had a handful of vendors remaining, and one grocery store. The entrance of the former JC Penny was converted into a flee-market attracting a low end crowd.

In the fall of 1979 Floyd Buelleur (Mall Manager) tried to appeal to stockholders and investors one last time to re-start refurbishment of the Mall. He had an Engineer create blueprints for an Open-Air Shopping Center design. He acquired no investments, and the stockholders fired him as Mall Manager.

During the Winter of 1979 a liquidation firm was hired to sell off all Mall Assets of the Mall. They filed an application for Bankruptcy of the Dixie-Five Mall. All items were moved into the former JC Penny anchor and Sears Wing. The entrance to the interior of portion of the Mall was boarded up for Wing A, Wing B, and Wing C entrances.

The Mall sat empty the entire Winter of 1979 with no Security or redevelopment plans. Vandals broke into the former Montgomery Ward and destroyed the interior of the anchor store.

In the Spring of 1980 Floyd was hired back as a Security guard and Mall keeper. His primary role was to prevent further damage to the Mall, prevent scrappers from gutting the metal, and prevent people dumping garbage on the former Mall's property.

For three years Floyd guarded the Mall to the extreme, consistently staying over night inside the Mall for extended periods of time. This ended in the Fall of 1983 when the last breaker of the Mall's power was disconnected from the power grid.

The winter of 1983 was too cold for Floyd to continue to guard the Mall as temperatures dropped to below -35C. During this time vandals broke into the main interior of the Mall and destroyed everything that remained.

In 1985, after waiting for a demolition permit for almost 6 years, the investment firm was able to acquire a permit to demolish the former Montgomery Ward. The firm was not able to acquire a permit to demolish the rest of the Mall as it contained asbestos.

From 1985 to 1994 the Mall was left to rot, a missing persons report was filed for Floyd Buelleur, and the investment firm that owned the property never bothered to hire anyone to replace him. The Mall was further gutted by looters, scrapers and vandals.

In 1995 the stockholders that owned the Mall voted to illegally tear down the former Sears without a permit and start also illegally start demolition on Wing C of the Mall. Two days into demolition, Floyd Buelleur appeared and instructed the crews to go home or else he would call the By-Law department for demolition without a permit.

The Mall again sat empty from 1995 until 2019, in 2019 the Mall was sold to the City. The City had plans to demolish the Mall and use the original foundation of the Mall to construct a Superstore.

Its now 2021 and the Mall has been partially boarded up while construction crews remove asbestos and mold while demolishing section by section at a time.

Yup, part of the Mall was based on the Dixie Square Mall, a Mall that sat abandoned for longer than it was open

Not getting the mod but looking at the mall it's the same one from the blues brothers the same one they rammed a car through for the iconic police chase scene
