Description
Terra Knight is a massive, metroidvania style parkour adventure map that is not for the faint hearted.
Jump in with up to 3 friends (1-4 players) for a more casual experience.

You may notice in the name, Hollow Knight was a massive inspiration for me, you'll see similarities while exploring to some areas. You'll recognize the metroidvania style which allows you to completely skip areas, or go back to hard places you might be struggling with, you can choose your own path.

Terra Knight is far from a copy though, explore the lava filled Devil's Dwelling or parkour on top of Cirrus Highlands. Delve into the crumbling Hollow Mines or push through monsters in Fleshgrounds. There are some extra challenging dungeon levels too, such as the Desolate Catacombs which are filled with traps, timers and all kinds of nasty ways to die.

This is a 16 month project that I've spent over 1000 hours on. I hope you enjoy it! -Ozcaty

(Disclaimer: This map is hard, only a handful of people ever have beaten this map's hardest challenge)

@TheLegendofZach As far as I can recall there's just 1. I don't remember whether that was one of the recipes that got changed around in 1.4.X, so that may be the problem. Either way, you'll probably want to use the one for Lava Waders over Obsidian Shield, or if you're playing solo or 2 player there's no harm in grabbing 2 of them to craft both.

Are there supposed to be 2 obsidian skull locations?(8 in the map overall)
Obsidian skulls are used for both the obsidian shield, and for the lava waders, but I only found a 1 chest of 4, instead of 2 different chests of 4

Played for an hour. Good Map, very interesting Gameplay, but it's lagging. Even hosting in multiplayer and minimal settings isn't helping. I guess it's something with torches, cause there are a lot of it. Maybe Terraria light sources are actually heavy for PC or poorly optimized.

"The Hive/Sunplate are where I stopped getting regular testers for the map because at that point I was over a year into the project and just wanted the thing done." This actually is a problem not just among map makers, but indie gamedev too. Don't rush things, after all, it's a passion project! Nobody puts time limits on you, and if you "just want something done" and plan to do it as soon as possible, then think, is it actually worth it? Making things like this should be a fun thing to do, what matters most is for you to enjoy doing something, then you'll make it good. After all, it's better to have something short but sweet instead of long but with weird bumps, right?

And of course, never be too hard on yourself. After all, it's not that serious. The map's scale is HUGE, I don't think I've ever played any so large, you should be proud of taking on something like this and even coming out of it with something, most people give up due to having an unrealistic scope. But of course, don't make things huge for the sole reason of feeling proud of have made it. Though maybe, one day after making more maps, at one point you'll be able to take on the challenge again?

Always remember, have fun. Have fun creating, building, planning, especially testing, because that way, players will have fun too. By not having fun with it, you just won't care if something isn't good, however, players very much will, like it was here. I suppose you've learnt a lesson from this old map, and now, if you still make maps or plan to, no, anything at all actually, then good luck with it! And I wish you well as you move on in life

If one day I ever have a reason to, I might come back and remaster those poorer areas. For now though, thanks for all your honest feedback. Means a lot <3

@ppiece of cat and @iLikeTerrain

Thank you for your feedback, the map is definitely rough around the edges, still hopefully was a fun experience for what it was. I just don't have a reason to go back and update it to clean that stuff up.

The Hive/Sunplate are where I stopped getting regular testers for the map because at that point I was over a year into the project and just wanted the thing done. That's why that area is unreasonably hard + the enemies now spawning in... yeah it's rough. The Sapphire challenge area I messed up, it's actually 6 blocks smaller than the others so it's rather easy... oops. All the areas listed Cursed Grove/Crystal Caverns were yeah, not fantastic. I originally planned for hermes boots to be accessible in Crystal but, well, messed up the sequencing and now it's just unfun. The difference in quality from some areas to others is definitely an issue.

I basically played until the "diamond" ending, then "cheated" to get in final challenge (after almost beating every gem room. On some of the worst 9th rooms, I would use platforms to skip the first jumps after beating the first jumps many many times yet not figuring out the next hard jump, so I could continue from the second hard jump instead.)

From a play-through online, it seems there is something broken (or something very hidden) for that "final challenge" room.

I love collecting the vanities and armors, but a few sets seem to be extremely hard to complete (are they impossible?).
(I don't know how I could only have 2 pieces of tin armor, for example.)

(cutting out a bunch of text here)...

A lot of work clearly went into this map. I haven't played many maps, but this is one of the best maps to play (if you don't mind parkour. I don't mind it)

@Ssamuueel Apparently, there's a weird thing with the map, and you need to play it in multiplayer. It's technical stuff that I am unsure of. I think it's because there are too many mechanisms in the map, and the game checking them every frame makes it lag, since in Terraria, the ticks are bound to your FPS. By playing it in multiplayer, you separate the game from the server, and so all the ticks do not affect your framerate, BUT you can experience small lags not as in FPS, but as in something similar to ping. That's fine though, due to how Terraria works, the ping doesn't affect your movement at all, which is basically the only thing you need. And now, good luck!
