RUST: Armor Appearances!

It drives me nuts that you are expected to wear armor without having a clue as to how you look in it, It probably drives other people mad thinking about it as well! Which is why I've made this guide ( not really ) to show you what each type of Armor in RUST looks like!

NOTE: I am NOT the one who took the screenshots of the armor.

Exposed Skin

So you've got some real balls of steel to wander the dangerous plains of RUST, with no clothes on. You'll sure woo' the ladies.

Cloth Armor Set

This armor uses the head wrap as a helmet which makes you look like a Bandit. I’m thinking you are pretty obvious hiding in that green grass. Just Sayin. It’s the easiest to get. You can craft it as soon as you collect some cloth (from killing animals mostly) It will at least keep you from getting Cold all night.


You should mention this to any new player this:
Wearing a Cloth Helmet doesn't mean you're a Bandit.

Leather Armor Set

Most of you might've been expecting a Leather Jacket, but no, it's actually a set of brown shoes, jeans, and a red hoodie topped off with a Watch cap or some sort. Wear the complete set and you can make your character look like a Thug straight from the Hood. You can usually find Leather by looting Radtowns.

Radiation Suit Armor Set

At first I was expecting a Hazmat suit or a Gas mask at least but yet, it's another head wrap. I guess it’s the next best thing to a full face helmet. Also the closest you are going to get to cammo greens. Doesn’t provide a lot of Melee protection, but it’s good for keeping the radiation at a tolerable level. ( It also looks like green plastic. )

Kelvar Armor Set

This thing doesn't even look like it has any Kelvar vest on but, it's the Cream of the Crop, and the best of the best. Best armor in the game ( so far ) and an all Black look. It even makes your arms more darker! ( prob glitch ) Also uses the watch cap for the helmet. Perfect for those late night raids in the dark. Makes you look even more Thug-ish.


Just a thing, most pr0 MLG bandits I've encountered seem to always have this set on. So if you see a guy with this set on, it's a good giveaway that he's heavily armed, and he's got some more heavy loot and his base.
