Wheatstraw Cape: Revised

Description
This edit uses Accord's brilliant Wheat Straw Cape mod. Find and subscribe to it here!

This is a patch for Accord's mod, generally improving integration and immersion.

OVERVIEW:
  • The names and descriptions of both items have been rewritten to better fit vanilla. For example, "Wheat Straw" was changed to "Wheatstraw" in their handles, matching the ingredient (which is one word).
  • Both items have been better introduced to the world, whereas before they would only spawn on hungry bandits. See the section on dispersal below for details.
  • Custom-made inventory icons have been added for the cape and the sunhat, which were bugged before.
  • The Wheatstraw Cape is now a shirt slot item, so it can be worn over other armors. Looks great with a tagelmust. If you want to match it with the samurai set, check out my recolor here.
  • The Wheatstraw Cape now gives 40% resistance to dust storms. It can also be worn by hivers, giving soldiers a better and more fashionable option to deal with the desert.
  • The Wheatstraw Sunhat now gives minor protection against acid and dust storms compared to the Straw Hat which gives sizable defense against acid only.

DISPERSAL:
As hinted at in the rewritten descriptions, both are associated with certain groups. The Wheatstraw Sunhat is portrayed as the headwear of the farmer, but is ultimately overshadowed by the more practical Straw Hat. As such, they're fairly rare. They're now somewhat uncommon stock in most hat stores.

The Wheatstraw Cape is the gown of the desperate, and can now be uncommonly found on peasants, servants, slaves, and outlaws alike. Favored by groups like the starving vagrants, hungry bandits, rebel farmers, and empire peasants, it's for those who need to deal with the dust but can't afford anything nicer. They can now be sold in crappy travel/ adventure shops.

Don't like the Wheatstraw Sunhat? Use this patch to remove it.

Yo, this i a great mod, love it, but i have a question. I'm in a late game playthough with this mod in it, so i'm hesitant to change anything, and i know nothing about modding. If i wanna use this and the Gusoku armor together, will they clip proberly or will there be issues. Because i love that this Cape can be worn on top of most armors but will that work for mod related armors too?

LAte reply since I totally forgot about this post! Your insturctions were perfect, was even able to apply this fix to a few other mods that had the same issue, thanks a lot!

Thanks so much spong! Ill try this out next time I play, a bit busy this week tho. I made a forum post about the same question as well and got pretty much the same advice there, thanks for the option of using the invis_normalmap, Ill try my best to remember to let you know if I managed to do it!

@Brimsaw

Look at the "vest normalmap" and the "vest normalmap female" fields in the armor using the FCS.

I think it basically just overlays a texture on your squadmate's torso when they wear that item. The Martial Artist's Bindings are just an overlaid texture using this method, for example. Leaving this field blank, and using a shirt that doesn't cover your torso with a model will cause the black texture problem.

Both my mod and and similar mods (Like the vanilla aesthetic patch series that this mod is basically ripping off) have this field set to an extremely small normalmap that's functionally invisible to players. That way, the game still tries to render a texture over the player's torso -- an invisible one -- and therefore it render's the player's torso. No more black chest on reload.

If you can find out how, feel free to use the thing called invis_normalmap.dds (I think that's what I named it) in this mod's files, then use the FCS to set those fields to it in the offending mods. Won't guarantee it'll work, but it should.

Otherwise, try the discord. Modders there are smarter than I am.

Question about the shirt slot option:

Ive had many issues with mods that add non-texture shirt items (Like the nomad cape or the fishermans verst) where when they spawn on npcs or when I reload the characters wearing them will have a black texture over their chest. Is this issue known or only an issue for me? I have tried to see if it was caused by another mod but so far couldn't find any clue, any advice would be apreciated, thanks!

I was hoping to delete that last comment before it was seen, but alas, I'm going to leave it for posterity. Yeah, I hadn't been manufacturing clothing up until just moments ago and realized that the belt option was available. I had mistakenly assumed in the description that having converted the cloak to a shirt slot meant that the belt option had been removed. That's my bad, and also, great mod.

@Sandman

What do you mean? Belt option is still there, you can see it in the last screenshot.

I love the cape look. Just wondering if it's possible to include the belt option still; My characters are both rocking martial artist bindings and I don't want to remove them because of the small passive buffs they give.
