What Is ADR?
Ask yourself what ADR is... and you might say that you have no idea. or that it has to do with dangerous goods. And both is correct. this world you are about to see is a very complex and a hard to understand world.
luckly in stormworks there isnt much dangerous goods. so there will not be many rules that you need to know. but i know there will come more dangerous goods in the future of this game as i know guns, nuclear stuff and steam boilers will come. and there i see we have ADR Class 1, Class 7, and Class 4.1 assuming that the steam boilers will run on coal. if it will run on Gas it will be Class 2..

but then again what is ADR and what is all these classes? well ADR is an agreement from allot of diffrent nations to agree and put law on how dangerous goods will be handled and how it will be transported. and all dangerous goods are number named and put in one or more classes depending on its propeties. for exaple UN1202 is the number name for Diesel. and diesel is in the class 3. witch is Flammebale liquids. we also have UN1017 witch is in the class 2.3, 5.1 and 8. this says to us that it is a toxic gas, that oxidize and is corrosive. now i wont say what UN1017 is because i want you to find that out for urself. you could try to find a Checklist of some sort. like https://www.hazmattool.com/info.php?language=en or if you know swedish http://checklista.dgm.se/ these are two checklists for ADR. im not sure if the english one is 100% right. but the swedish one is. An alternitive way is to buy a ADR Checklist book. but i dont know how to shearch for something in one.

One important thing you should know that there is an "ADR" for Road, Rail, Boat and Flight all these have a diffrent agreement on how to handle, sign and transport dangerous good. but all four will always share the UN number with each other. so 1202(diesel) on road will be named 1202(diesel) for flight aswell. 1202 will always be diesel no matter what or where you are. the Classes i actually dont know if they share. but i know that Road and Sea Share all classes. so class 3 on road will be class 3 on sea aswell. but i dont know if sea and flight share or if road and rail share. that is something you will have to look up.

Also important is that the other contries outside the EU and FN may have a diffrent "ADR" than what EU have. so here i know that some rules and classes changes. but i have no intresst in other "ADR" then what the EU have as it will confuse me in real life. i have the education and a license for ADR 1.3 (this is not a Class) and ADR Basic. I dont want to be confused with rules that does not account where i live and such (hope you understand).
The License
there are 1+3 licenses. (at least in sweden) where i fristly need the "ADR 1.3 License"
this license is requied by "arbetsförmedlingen" (the employment service) for me to even touch any dangerous goods at work. with other words im not allowed to fuel any vehicles in the workshop if i were a mechanic..

Then whe have the True ADR licenses. witch are; ADR Basic, Class 1, Class 7 and Tank.

ADR basic.
ADR basic is the most complex license so dont be fooled by its name. it is the most complex because it includes so many diffrent Classes. and every rule there is around this subject excluding the rules from the other three licenses.

Class 1.
Class 1 is the license you need to be allowed to be driving explosives. excluding the Class 1.4

Class 7.
Class 7 is the license you need to be allowed to be driving radioactive materials and packages.
this is also the most rare license around ADR and in sweden theres only around 50 to 60 people that have this license

Tank.
The tank license you will need to be able to drive with a tank or a containertank that have a total volume over 3000 liters.
The Diffrent Classes And Their Meaning
Now i will show you all the classes there are. and what they mean. i dont have the license for any in the Class 1 except 1.4 and none in class 7. so the information on these two classes might be wrongly described.

Here is all the classes there is. if you find any other sign that looks like it could be in here but isn`t.
it is not a class. it is a marking and will only be that. these are Lables and these are the important ones,

one important information is that you can always indentify what class a sign is, because of the number in the bottom corner. the number there will always indicate what class it is in.
Class 1 "Exsplosives"
now i am only aware of the class 1.4 here and that the Letter above the number in the buttom corner implies the explosivnes. so a 1.4G is much more dangerous than a 1.4B but a 1.4 will always be the same type of explosive. So a 1.1 is one type, 1.2 is one, 1.3 and so fourth. but sadly i cant find any information for free of what type each sub class stands for. but i know that the class 1.4 includes the type of explosives as some Fireworks have. the 1.4 is a much more safe sub class than any other here.
Class 2 "Gases"
Class 2.1
Flammable gas

Class 2.2
Non toxic,
Non Flammable gas
(the reason this is a class is because you can suffocate in it if not aware of it. UN1013 is one of these gases)

Class 2.3
Toxic gas
Class 3 "Flammable Liquids"
Class 3
Flammable Liquid

This is to most common type of class in Stormworks.
Class 4 "Flammable Solids"
Class 4.1
Flammable Solid Substance

Class 4.2
Self-Igniting Substance

Class 4.3
Substance That Develops Flammable Gas On Contact With Water
Class 5 " Oxidizing Agents And Organic Peroxides"
Class 5.1
Oxidizing Agent

class 5.2
Organic Peroxide
Class 6 " Toxic And Infectious Substances"
Class 6.1
Toxic Substance

Class 6.2
Infectious Substance
Class 7 "Radioactive Substances"
I dont have this licence so some information here might be missing.

Class 7A
Radioactive substance.
Substance which by its decomposition produces alpha, beta or gamma radiation

Class 7B
Radioactive substance.
Substance which by its decomposition produces alpha, beta or gamma radiation

Class 7C
Radioactive substance.
Substance which by its decomposition produces alpha, beta or gamma radiation

Class 7D
Radioactive substance.
Substance which by its decomposition produces alpha, beta or gamma radiation

Class 7E
Radioactive substance.
Substance which by its decomposition produces alpha, beta or gamma radiation
(i do belive you use this one for Nuclear weapons)
Class 8 "Corrosive substance"
Class 8
Corrosive Substance
Class 9 "Other"
Class 9
Other Dangerous substance.

there excist a lable that looks like the one above but it have burning battires on it. that one is on when theres lithium batteries. but i have included it in my "Stormworks ADR lables" just because i imagne that the batteries in stormworks are lithium batteries.
The Presence Of Dangerous Goods.
Orange sign indicates the presence of dangerous goods.
Orange sign, unnumbered.
The unnumbered signs are primarily used for the transport of general cargo.
Or in combination with numberd signs but more on combinations later.

Orange sign, number plate

The lower numbers here indicates whats in the Lorry or the container/tank and these are the important ones. the lower numbers here is the UN. on this sign it inform us that theres Coal or Carbon Black here

the upper numbers inform us about the classes. And is called the "danger number". its there for other people to be able to know how dangerous the subject you have onboard is without knowing what it is. in this case it says 40. so we know its a flammable solid because of the 4 but the zero here is just a filler. because the upper row always have atleast 2 numbers. for example UN 1203 (Gasoline) have this sign
And here we see 33. whe know that it is a Class 3 substance. but the number after implies that it is a much flammable liquid.

then we have UN 1717 that have this sign
and you see here we have 3 numbers and even a Letter!?
we now know that the two 3´s implies that it is a much flammable liquid. and the 8 says that it is corrosive. But the X in front of every number here says to us that it reacts dangerously with water.
if you find any other letter than X on one of these it is not from the EU or it´s a national rule by that country that it comes from.

speedthroug numbers on orange signs.
1: The lower numbers are important for you
2: The upper numbers are important for others
3: The upper number it self says what class/classes it is.
4: If theres two of the same upper number, then its more dangerous than normal.
5: The letter X says that it reacts dangerously with water.
6: The upper number 0 is a filler and dont mean anything.
Markings
have not begun with this yet..
Label Combination
as of now we know theres some subjects that fits in more than one class. like UN1717 or UN1230
and we know that UN1717 is both a liquid and its corrosive. but is there an order on how i make my label combination? and yes there deffiently is. on my checklist ( http://checklista.dgm.se/detail.php?inr=A_03992 ) i can see the order of how i do my combination. but for you who dont have a checklist how are you supposed to find this information if you are about to transport a material that is unknown by you?

and im sorry to say that i dont know how to get the information on what order the labels should be without the checklists that i have. so if you want to make a container for UN1717 you can use the checklists that i have to shearch it upp.

English https://www.hazmattool.com/info.php?language=en
Swedish http://checklista.dgm.se/

the order you se the lables in thats the way its supposed to be in. so in this case for UN1717
the lables should be in the following order "3, 8".
What Is General Goods And What Is Not?
A package can be made of the following containers. Barrel, Box, Dunk, Bottle or an IBC.
all this can be transported as general goods.

How to find the imposter..
yes there can acctually be an imposter that looks exactly like something that can be transported as general goods. you see here i have two identical IBC containers that both have diesel in them.

As you see the only real diffrence is that you can see more clearly what there is in the left one. Or in other words. the left one is better labled. and that is very true. but tell me witch one of these is an IBC container? Both?

unless you have knolledge of this in before hand you can never awnser this question. they are both the same volume. the same shape. and can be even of the same brand. but the diffrence here is that the left one is a Tankcontainer. and could that be considerd as a package? that´s right it can not be a package. because its not any of the things that i mentioned above.

but why is it like this? and to be honest i dont know. but i do know if you load upp a tankcontainer on your lorry inside of something the lorry needs to be labled diffrent. than if this was classed as a IBC.
we will talk about that in the next chapter where i will show you how to lable your lorry.
Overpack.
have not begun with this yet..
How To Lable A Transport Unit And Containers (this is what you are looking for)
And now the fun part "how to lable your lorry"!
here i will show you how to lable your lorry, trailer and container. depending of what you are driving.

first of i will show you how to lable if you ONLY drive UN1202 with an containertank
(you can lable this configuration as shown in picture ex4 aswell)

Picture Ex1
as you can see i have one orange number plate on each end of the transport unit´s ends. one at front (on the lorry) and one the back (on the trailer). and because the tank it self is a Containertank it needs labels on every side (except topp and bottom) and because its over 5 liters it needs "Enviroment Hazard Markings" on all four sides aswell. if you would drive a normal tank trailer all lables and markings dont have to be on the front side (towards the lorry)

And this picture show you how to lable if you are driving more than one subject. in this picture im having UN1202 (Diesel) and UN1863 (Jet Fuel). you can see some things have changed.

Picture Ex2
as you can see i now have an orange un-numberd plate on the front and back of the transport unit.
but also orange number plates on the sides. this container is split in two so i am able to transport two diffrent subjects. and thats why i have two orange number plates on the sides. you would also need two orange number plates even if the containers contain the same subject. if this container tank was only one container i would only need to have one orange number plate on each long side (shown as in picture ex4). the orange number plates should always be on both long sides on this configuration. but as you can see the lables and markings are all the same.

This is also the way i would recommend you to lable all your container/bulk transports. because its more convinient than changing the plates on the transport unit on the go. so with this way you can load upp with any containertank no matter whats in the container.

Remember general goods? this is where it matters. as you can see whe have an IBC container now as you see we only need to put the orange plate on the transport unit. and this is it. if this IBC was an Containertank we would need to lable the Container itself the same way i were showing on the Containertank on picture ex1 or ex2. you can see how it would look on the picture ex4

Picture Ex3

Picture Ex4
The Loooong Safety part.
before you drive you need to know what euqipment you need..

but because stormworks we only need to be sure that we have at least 2
fire extinguisher and a flash light onboard our transport unit.

the rest of the equipment needed doesent exist in stormworks..
Joint loading table
this table shows what classes can be transported on the same vehicle. all the red markings on this table is showing you that it can not be transported with eachother on the same vehicle. now remeber that a lorry is always a transport unit and a vehicle. and a trailer is a vehicle that can be a transport unit when connected to one. so this table shows you what you can mix and match on each vehicle.

Class 1/Explosive table (this is the yellow part in the table above)

A) packages with objects in group B and packages with substances and objects in group D may be loaded in a vehicle or in a container provided that they are effectively separated, so that there is no risk of a detonation being transferred from objects in group B to substances and objects in co-handling D. The separation shall be effected by the use of separate spaces or containment systems. both methods of separation must be approved by the competent authority.

B) different types of objects with classification code 1.6N, may be loaded together as objects with classification code 1.6N only if it has been shown by testing or analogous conclusions that there is no additional risk of detonation by transmission among the objects. otherwise they shall be treated as objects in risk group 1.1.

C) If objects in co-handling group N are loaded with substances or objects in co-handling group C, D or E, the objects in co-handling group N shall be treated as if they had properties according to co-handling group D.

D) packages with substances and objects in co-handling group L may be loaded together in a vehicle or a container with packages with substances and objects of the same type in this co-handling group.
Stormworks Lables, sources and other links
here are the lables i have made and you are free to use them. and i would appriciate if you would write that they are from me if you decide to uppload a creation with these but you dont have to.

Q/A
If you have any questions or if you see that some information is incorrect feel free to write a comment. i will put frequently asked questions here with an awnser for it.

1 aug
Q: can you make US standards?

A: as i siad in the last part of chapter 1 i wont do standards for any other countries outside the EU or FN. as i drive dangerous goods in real life i dont want rules that doesent appliy where i live to confuse me as im labeling or choosing rout.

22 jun
Q: Are you going to use the UN number markings as well with these or just the symbols?

A: it depends on what you are transporting. if you only transport something like an IBC with for example UN1202 then you dont need to lable with symbols on the outside of your lorry. you only need the un nubered orange (precence of dangerous goods) sign on the front and back of the transport unit.
On the chapter "how to lable your transport unit" i have this exact example on picture 3.
but if you transport something that isnt general goods you need to do as on the picture 4.
Thanks
Thank you for using this guide and i hope you will have use from this information and that you will build some awesome creations!

@ywyattwhy sadly no. as i said in the last few lines in the Chapter "What is ADR?" i dont want to make any other standards as this can and will confuse me in real life as i work with this stuff and could potentially give me a big ticket as i mix up the rules.

can you make US standards
Haddock  [Autor] 22. Juni 2021 um 10:36
@Talia Kuznetsova (Snugglisan~) The world of ADR is a large one and alot of information to take in all at once. what i have shown here is just the basics..
Haddock  [Autor] 22. Juni 2021 um 10:34
@Talia Kuznetsova (Snugglisan~) well it depends on what your transporting and what you are trasporting the goods in. if you read the following chapters. "The presence of dangerous goods", "what is general goods and what is not" and "how to lable a transport unit and containers" you should understand how and where to use un numbers (if any) and lables. if you still dont really know what do do i wont judge and will help you personally if you whould like too.

Are you going to use the UN number markings as well with these or just the symbols?

@ace_334 as i said i only know that these are used in the EU i know for a fact that the US dont use the same rules.
ace_334 1. Apr. 2021 um 7:14
these are international standards not just eu
Haddock  [Autor] 25. März 2021 um 14:27
@GGproductions but i dont think you have to lable and mark the outside on boats and aircrafts
Haddock  [Autor] 25. März 2021 um 14:25
@GGproductions if you read the 3rd part of the chapter "What is ADR?" i write that there diffrent rules for Road, Boat, Rail and Air. and there i only know that road and boat share classes. so im sorry to say that for flight and ships i have no knowledge. but i do recall hearing ships have the same rules for containers that containers on road have.
