Fix Shaman's Craft quest glitch with hex editor

This guide fixes a glitch in which the "Shaman's Craft" gets stuck on the step "Return to Karn and ask him about Carven Stone".

Fix for Shaman's Craft quest glitch.

I encountered a bug while playing darksiders 2 for the first time where the quest "Shaman's Craft" was stuck on the step "Return to Karn and ask him about Carven Stone". Karn refuses to talk any further which prevents the next step of the quest from activating. I had already talked to him about the carved stone but somehow the quest state didn't change. This makes it impossible to complete the quest because the Carved Stone will not drop in the Lost Temple.

Note: For this to work, one Construct Sentinel needs to be alive in the lost Temple. If you have already finished the Lost Temple, there will be one left behind if you return there (in the big area where you fight many of them). Do NOT kill it before applying this fix.

So, the fix requires editing the save file to change the quest state. I used this website: https://hexed.it/

1. - Backup your original save files in case something goes wrong:
   
   C:\Users\user\Documents\My Games\Darksiders2\<some number>
   C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<some number>\388410\remote
   
   
2. - Disable steam cloud save
   
   
3. - Open the save file with https://hexed.it/
   
   
4. - Search for "find_carven_stone"
   
   
5. - There will be the following sequence of numbers:
   
   66 69 6E 64 5F 63 61 72 76 65 6E 5F 73 74 6F 6E 65 01 01 02
   
   Simply replace the last number with a 1:
   
   66 69 6E 64 5F 63 61 72 76 65 6E 5F 73 74 6F 6E 65 01 01 01
   
   
   
6. - Export the new file and replace both game save files with the new one:
   
   C:\Users\user\Documents\My Games\Darksiders2\<some number>
   C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<some number>\388410\remote
   
   
7. - Start the game and kill the Construct Sentinel. The Carved Stone should appear on the inventory immediately after killing it.
   
   
8. - Complete the quest, save, close the game and reactivate steam cloud saving.

Tells me I cant open the files because it contains system files when i try and replace it, I can also only find one of my saves

The game was not patched recently (I encountered this issue in March 2021). I remember clearly that the stone was not dropping and Muria didn't care about me. I think you just had a slightly different bug.

Looks like this is fixed? I looked at the file on hexeditor and there was the number one. Couldn't talk to Karn about the carven stone either, but the stone still dropped, game informed about quest change but it didn't show on the Map/Quest info. I went to Muria and got the quest complete
