Introduction
Before we start, this is very much still a work in progress guide, I've completed all 4 acts with the rogue however I'm still missing some trait unlocks. I'm very open to both feedback and build suggestion/recommendations.

I've also released a complete guide for both the Necromancer and the Warrior,
feel free to check them out:

Complete Necromancer Guide
Complete Warrior Guide
Basics
The Rogue works on a trophy based loot system. You collect trophies as you kill enemies and as you return to your cozy camp you'll exchange all the trophies at once for a stack of loot. This means it's better to focus on strong enemies instead of stacking low hp groups.

The Rogue also starts with 5% Vampirism and will gain a 10% bonus for any effect for every equipped item with the same effect.

While playing the Rogue you'll be able to equip 2 weapons, 1 pair of boots, a piece of chest armor and an amulet (if you've placed an Arsenal card which is a gold card.)

The Rogue will be able to receive the following stats on their gear:
  • Damage
  • Damage to all
  • Evade (%)
  • Crit. Chance (%)
  • Attack speed
  • Counterattack (%)
  • Defense
  • Crit. Damage (%)
  • Magic HP (With arsenal)

I'm sure there's a couple of different ways to play the Rogue, however the way I've been playing him have been focusing on stacking Evasion and Vampirism, with Crit chance being a close third.
Traits
My personal tier list for Rogue

I've yet to unlock all the traits in the game so these guides currently only reflect their class traits. Please do also note this is based on my personal experience. Some traits are only great when paired up with others.

Reasoning for placements in tier list

Picky - S
Overall it just provides you with much better gear faster than you'd otherwise get it.

Old scars - A
While it's much better depending on how early you get it it'll let you stack hp infinitely.

Fuss - B
Damage reduction, helps you stay alive whenever hits end up going through your evasion.

Marauder - C
A bit of extra gear, great pair up with Picky.

Noting is sacred - C
Sustain, that's really it.

Lethal weakness - D
Considering this is only 2.5% chance at 50% hp I don't see this as an amazing trait.

Master of fencing - D
Helps you clear packs

Call of the forest - E
Don't really see much use for this, it shows up when it wants to any usually dies really quickly.

Pickpoket - F
I've personally never tried stacking Counter on the Rogue, I find myself wanting to stack Evasion, crit pretty much every game.

Rogue trait list

Old scars
Max hp is increased by 1 for each received trophy

Master of fencing
10% chance to simultaneously attack two targets.

Marauder
Fighting against 3 or more enemies will grant you an additional trophy.

Nothing is sacred
+3 hp after a kill.

Smoke screen
After losing 20% of his max hp in battle, the hero will evade all attacks for 2 seconds.

Pickpocket
50% chance to steal a resource shard from an enemy while countering.

Picky
Lowers the quantity of items received on the camp tile by 3, while increasing the quality of exchange for trophies.

Child of the forest
A rat wolf may come to your aid during battle (75% chance).

Fuss
The hero receives 7% less damage for every enemy, starting after the second enemy.

Lethal weakness
Every 10% of lost hp gives you a 0.5% chance to instantly deal 1000% damage.
Builds
Feel free to post your build idea in the comments, I'll be trying out different builds as I play and will feature builds I have success with here.

1 Shot Rogue
Provided by Clarkus

Using the following tiles:
  • Arsenal
So you can equip an amulet for magic hp
  • Deserts / Dunes
To reduce the health of enemies (and yourself, however this does not affect your magic hp from your amulet)
  • Forests / Thickets
To stack attack speed so you can kill anything REALLY FAST.

You'll then just wanna stack both the Dunes and Thickets as they have the higher stat increases than the Deserts / Forests. Equip your possible best gear and you should be good to go.

Picky is a noob-trap. It only affects the rarity of items, not their level; once you collect enough trophies per loop, you will get 100% rares anyway, so you loose out on 3 items for nothing.

Child of the forest - E
Pretty surprised by this. This minion scales off of your stats and acts as effectively X more HP every combat, where X is his HP. Most of the time he also gets at least one attack off, which is usually half of one your attacks. If the enemy ever focuses you, he becomes 50% more damage for that combat encounter. If the enemy ever focuses him, it's like you evaded that many attacks without losing any meter.
Early on he's pretty powerful, but even late game he can make combat encounters ZOOM by when you can easily 1 shot enemies, which he can start doing as well.

@Ardwolf I disagree with it being a noob trap OR a crutch. Compared to Master of Fencing, which you rank at A, it's easily better as it has the versatility of guaranteeing at least one extra attack in an encounter through the dog while simultaneously tanking damage for you.

Child of the Forest is a crutch/noob trap, depending on how far into the game you are. If you haven't gotten the hang of tile-placement or just get unlucky on equipment(which is /really/ hard to do as rogue), I'd put it as an A tier pick, since on its own it'll get you an extra 2-3 loops before you've gotta go.

Additionally, I'd put Master of Fencing at A tier. Rogue's a great class for farming materials and one of the ways to do that is with the vampire mansion+village+(optionally)abandoned bookery, which has you fighting 4+ monsters per tile for 3 loops. Wave-clear rogue is great for 3 different resources that are either hard to get(mage-type enemies), you need a lot of(stable metal), or just sustaining while you do the peak mountain shuffle(oblivion a tile on peak mountain, immediately replace it) for transformation orbs.

The dog is very useful early game since it'll usually draw atleast 1 enemy's aggro, which protects you from getting hit. Later it becomes almost useless when you have high evasion and counter

Big disagree putting Child so low. It shows up more often than not. And not only does it deal damage, and take damage but it basically acts as hp regen, as every hit you don't take is vamp regen. Plus, given that rogue can one shot with crits, you can have Child and often not take out a pack before the wolf even dies.

Yeah, I've only really picked it up once so not sure where I'd place it. However it seems fairly useful.

smoke screen seems to be missing from the tier list

The wolf is good to draw aggro. It will take a couple hits for you, usually giving enough time to kill the enemies, much better early than late of course but can get a good run going while you get your River/forest combo to built

I just tested 10% rogue bonus. I had 3 items each gives me 6% evasion for to total of 18% evasion. On stats it says I have 19% evasion. So I think game gives you 10% of your total evasion rounded down eg. 18% *1,1=19,8%=19%

Also as rogue you get 10% crit chance by default and with 1 item that gives use crit chance you dont get 10% rogue bonus.
onlyaddy  [author] Mar 10, 2021 @ 12:59am
I'd assume that's how it works yes.
