Intro

The Macaw Masked War Paint was released on October 20, 2017 in the Jungle Jackpot War Paint Case as a Commando Grade War Paint.

This war paint has a unique property that allows it to come in many different rare color patterns. In this guide I will go over the different patterns in detail.

Pattern

The pattern layout of the Macaw Masked paint including approximate percentages for each color.

Basic Gems

These are the five basic gem colors.

The above percentages are considered the minimum required to be considered a basic gem.

Other Gems

Dual vs Single Tone

A very important detail for Green/Blue/Orange Gems are color tones. As you can see from the War Paint layout each of these three colors have both dark and light tones. The majority of gems will come in mix of dark and light. However, there are very rare patterns that come in all light or all dark. These are much more desirable. I will show an example for each color below.

Weapon Rarity

Something to consider when looking for gems are the weapons they can be applied to.

The Air Strike, Black Box, Loose Cannon and Knife are the easiest weapons to get a gem pattern on and thus the most common gem weapons. These four weapons wrap differently around the paint and can create vastly different patterns when compared to the other weapons for that pattern id.

Tip: When checking a War Paint to see if it's a gem always check either the Air Strike, Black Box, Loose Cannon or Knife along with the Rocket and Sniper Rifle. If you see any signs of rare patterns then check all the weapons to find the best applications.

Most war paints will only create a gem pattern on a few weapons. The more weapons a war paint can convert into a gem pattern the better. There are even certain ultra rare patterns that can create a gem on all weapons.

Pricing

I wont be going into detailed pricing as there is no consensus currently on what something might be worth. Since each War Paints pattern id is different the weapons it can be applied to, tone, and distribution can vary greatly. However, I can try and rank the patterns by rarity and maybe that can help.

From most Common to Rarest:

Although Teal and Purple are technically rarer than White, currently anything with a large amount of White on it is the more desired pattern. The highest sale for any Macaw was a Unusual Field-Tested Cool White/Blue War Paint which sold for 2,500 keys pure (Update [3/15/24]: It was just resold for a Golden Pan. Update [10/24/24]: Sold again for another Golden Pan). Below is a video on this sale and some other information on Macaws.
